Peterman of Twin Falls arrived Sunday morning for a visit at the home of Mr. Peter man's brother. A. B. Peterman. G. Lohrli has sold his twenty-five acre ranch to J. R. Chancy and his bees, about 200 colonies, to Miller and Stark of Middleton. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Blinkensop were given a charivari by the Roswell young people Friday evening at the Thomas Rooney home. Gottfried and Annie Lhrli were given a farewell party Friday evening by their classmates the pupils of the eighth grade who were accompanied by their teachers, Misses Mason, Reese and Buckner. A bountiful dinner, a short program by the children and a very interesting address by Judge J. H. Richards of Boise wer' features which drew a large coni| any to the celebration of Washington's hirthdav Saturday at Serry Memorial Presbvterian church. Miss Charlotte Dewhirst of Apple Valley was a week-end guest at the home of Mr and Mrs W. T. Goodell. Hen Vogt returned home Wednes day morning after being in the service about 12 months. Mr. Thonnpson and son, A. J., re turned home Friday after a short visit in Washington. Miss Chambers was the guest of Miss Reid Friday evening and Sat urday. The Pleasant Ridge reporter is rather slack. He forgot to mention about the new house which Alan Moss is having erected. Mrs. Mae Fisher and Ethel Fisher were week end visitors of Boise They were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Cline Fisher. There will be an entertainment and shower at the new Deer Flat school house this Friday evening, February 28th. Everybody is invited to come. Articles for the shower are to be of an individual size but not tin. Any thing from spoons to small frying pans will be accepted. These articles are to be used by the domestic science class. _ While the roads are so bad—a good time_ to have your tires half-soled. Jocelyn Gardner entertained 2* 1 young people .at his home Tuesday evening of last week. The occasion being his 17th birthday. The evening was spent playing games. Tee ereim and cake were served and a happy time was enjoyed by all. Miss Alberta Rankin is a guest at the Cillter home this week. Republican as that party now rules the lower house. President Wil son Is expected home from Europe the third week in February. He will call a special session of congress early in March in the attempt to get important war legislation through Champ Clark, of Missouri, the present speaker will be the Democratic candidate Mann, of minois; Longworth and Fess. of Ohio, and Gillett, of Massachusetts, are Republican candidates Mann and Longworth are conceded little chance. Fess and Gillett are leading but a possible dark horse" may show up at the last moment to grab off the plum. Frances Traughber entered high school Monday. The Junior C. E. and the intermedi ate class of the Huston bible school met with Miss Gertrude Skow Satur day afternoon for a business meeting. Refreshments were served and a social hour enjoyed after the business ses sion. The Red Cross met with Mrs. W. H. Culter Friday afternoon. About IS or 20 ladies were present. Mrs. Callson entertained the young people of Huston at her home Satur day evening. Dainty refreshments and games made a pleasant evening for all. Mrs. Gardner made a business trip to Boise this week. Arthur Clark .who recently returned from overseas, visited with friends here Monday. Ben Vogt returned home last week from a Virginia camp. He was in the signal service. Monday evening, Mrs. T. J. Hitson and C. C. Greenfield had a joint birth da.y celebration at the Greenfield home. Several others who were hav ing birthdays during the week came in for their share of attention. On Wednesday night of last week a party of young people serenaded Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Springer with the usual tin pan instruments and in return were treated to candy and nuts Harvey Springer and wife visited at the Moss home Sunday afternoon. Mrs. W. A. George and Mrs. Bryan visited in Boise the first of the week. Will Derig arrived in Tacema one hour after his father had passed awnv The body will he shipped to Weiser for burial. Mr. and Mrs. M. J. Mr. Cooper took a load of household goods Friday, and Mrs. Cooper went by auto Saturday. Dr. Ewing of Boise preached at the M. E. church Sunday morning, and was a dinner guest at the Frank Weeks home. Louise Wright attended the Red Cross social at Joe Whittig's on Pleas ant^ Ridge, Friday night. Nels Madson has sold his 80 acre ranch to Mr. Homer Lingenfelter of Boise for a consideration of $16,000. Mr. Madsen has purchased the five acre Steunenberg ranch a mile and a half from Caldwell near Douglas sta tion. On the 8th of March Mr. Mad sen will hold a sale of his farm equip ment. Harry Carr will also sell 20 head of cattle at this sale. The Mad sen place was originally the Prevo place sold to Erastus Johnson for $11,000. Mr. Johnson selling it last fall to Mr. Madsen for $13,000. Hay balers are baling hav for Mr. Fish. U. Spear and family visited Sunday at Joe Smith's near Caldwell. Arthur Fry is building a house and barn on his ranch, purchased from Forest Sower. Miss Wilma and Vera Sower were Wilder and Parma visitors Friday night. Homer Jessee of Wallabe, visited Wednesday at the home of his niece, Mrs. G. C. White. Mr. Jessee and family together with his parents. Mr. and Mrs. Roundtree of Newport, Wash., are moving to Homedale. Mr. Flanigan and Mr. Morris of the Caldwell Equity were visitors at the I-ake I^owell school Wednesday. Mr Morris entertained the children by singing a number of the late war songs. Mrs. Belle Carr of Caldwell was out to her son Harry's Saturday night and Sunday. The 80 acre ranch of D. J. Westcott known as the Leitritz place, is rented to Mr. Gilten of Sunny Slope for the coming year. Pvt. Ben Reed, who has been dis charged from Camp Kearney, has been in the neighborhood visiting. Montr Witty of Twin Falls has pur chased the old Gcise place. His uncle J. J. Witty is on the place now and will help farm it the coming year. This place has changed hands a num ber of times the last three years. Mr. Geise sold to Mr. Williams for $6000. Mr. Williams sold to Mr. Shelton for $WXXV Mr. Shelton sold to another party for $14,000, and it sells this time to Mr. Witty for $16,000. Mr. Scholtz has called a meeting of the Nonpartisan League members, re carding the new daily paper, The Ida ho Free Press, to be published at N'ampa. Mrs. Herbert Spencer of Boise was / visiting relatives in Dixie for a few days. » Word came over the phone Friday evening that Mr. and Mrs. Stratton's 11-months-old baby had died suddenly.
