The Idaho County Free Press L. A. WISENER, EDITOR Grangeville, Idaho, Thursday, November, 19, 1908. MAKING OF OIF Rich Strike on the Buster Means Making of Elk Camp RICHERANDBI6GERTHAN EVER On 400-Foot Level 21 Feet of $200 to Ton Ore From the Elk City paper we clip the following most important piece of news. We believe there can he hut little doubt that with this latest strike Elk City will make the coming camp of the west: ''In the past week two strikes have been made in the Buster mine, ouo of which is the largest body and the richest ore ever found iu the mine. One Strike was made on level No. 2; the other in level No. 4, in which considerable drift ing and crosscutting lias been done of late to find the ore that was cut by a fault between level No. .1 and level No. 4. The ore countered by the day shift Satur day. The night shifts explored the face and found the body of ore to be 21 feet wide. was en The report from the assaver is not made pub lic, but the appearance of the ore shown it is high grade. It is said it will apsay 8200 a ton. bigger and richer tliau any hotly of ore yet found iu the Hunter mine, or anywhere in central Idaho. Supt. J. F. Thorn and bis assis tant, Mr. Austin, are at Newsome tjiis week looking up other proper ties for the Bradley & Mackenzie people, and this paper could not get an interview with are close to the It iH men who company. How ever, from what Mr. Bradley liaK said in the past, the ment in the Buster that the well known who own it will immediately launch out upon a broad plan of mining ! operation in this district. Evidently the time is now at hand when the reduction plant will have to be enlarged. It is worked to its full capacity now, and with the present plant remain ing as it is now, ore taken from level No. 4 would have to be thrown on the dump. More power is need ed, and the presumption is that the company will locate a water power site on one of the rivers in the district and install an electric plant, to get the power they need and do away with the great expense of burning wood. It is shown at the Buster that the ore body increases in size and riehuess as depth is attained. This discovery and this strike means a tremendous impetus for mining in this district and for all central Idaho." SHERIFFS SALK. Frank A.
