BURST INTO TEARS
Two Orangeville schoolboys, each
13 year» aid, burst Into tears when
they were taken before Police Judge
H. Taylor, by Officer R. O. Wilson,
Monday afternoon.
The boys were indulging in a flst
light when the pugllstlc encounter was
called off by Officer Wilson. Besides
the principals, fifteen boys, witnesses
to the battle, were summoned to the
judge's office by Officer Wilson.
With tears dripping from their
) ('yes, the two lads, after being lectured
i by Judge Taylor, admitted nothing
was to be gained by fighting, and they
j promised to he good friends now and
forever more. They were dismissed.

Federal government will pay 58
percent of cost of surfacing the
Whitebird hill from the summit to
ward Whitebird, it was stated by P.
B. Oxley, district highway engineer
who was in Grangevllle Monday.

growing out of the fatal shooting by
Rosengrants of Dick Lyle, on Snake
river, above Lewiston, March 9, at a
hearing held Tuesday before Probate
C. A. Woeflen, In Lewiston.
Lyle died In a Lewiston hospital,
last week. George Baker, friend of
Lyle, was the state'.,- star witness at
the hearing, and upon his testimony,
largely, was the case dismissed. Raker
was a witness to the shooting, which
occurred early In the morning, follow
ing a dance the night before. Lyle and
Rosengrants had trouble.

At the annual meeting of the Idaho
County Fair association, in Grange
vil'e, Wednesday, a committee was
api>oiiited to recommend officers for
the association for the ensuing year.
These nominees will lie voted upon
at a meeting of the fair association
in Grange ville, next Wednesday. The
nominating committee comprises John
P. Ffimers, chairman ; J. C. Safley, H.
M. Sims, C. H. Wood and C. P. Fer
guson.
TRUCK FREIGHTING
TO BE DISCUSSED
Representatives of Commercial clubs
in central Idaho have been invited to
attend a meeting in Cottonwood on
Friday night of this week, when the
matter of freighting by motor truck,
in opposition to the railroad, will be
discussed. The movement. In favor of
patronizing the railroad in prefer
ence to trucks, is sponsored by the
Cottonwood Commercial club.

ON N, & S. HIGHWAY
Prank, Van Deventer had an un
pleasant experience Sunday when his
car left the track on the North and
South highway, on the Grangevllle side
of the summit, and stuck in deep
snow at the side of the road. It
was with difficulty that the car was
extricated, nnd this was
plished only after another car was
hitched to It, and with the power of
the two machines, and men pushing
the Van Deventer car, the auto was
finally placed in the road. Mr. Van
Deventer expresses his appreciation
to Frank Titus, Bert Brockman, Gib
Elmers and other« who helped him
out of his difficulties.

MRS. MARTIN INJURED
Moscow Star-Mirror:—The Rev.and
Mrs. William Martin, of Oroflno, and
the Rev. and Mrs. Ray Martin, of
Grangevllle, arrived in Moscow late
Monday evening and are guests at
the home of their mother, Mrs. W.
J. Martin. They were called to Mos
cow by the news of the illness of
their uncle. Robert Martin, who is
at the Martin home. Just after their
arrival their mother had the misfor
tune to have her shoulder badly dis
located by a fall, rendering her prac
tically helpless.

hean. a graduate of Holy Names
academy of Spokane, and the art de
partment of Mills college, will have
charge of an art studio specializing
in painting in connection with the
dramatic qrts studio being conducted
here by Miss Bernice Dowling in the
Insurance building, Mrs. Behean
