Patrons of the skating rink will In the future have only the evening hours for the pleasure. The rink will be open from 7:30 to 10:30 each even ing, and the floor will be for all skat ers young and old. These regulations were made to met present conditions. The pastime continues to be the poptflar fad of the season, and under the constant practice, the young peo ple of the town are fast developing into proficient skaters. Present ac commodations are not sufficient to ac commodate the demand, and the man agement has some extensive Improve ments In contemplation. Hlndmanj»i|j.e Northern Pacific detective who Is in the city, has seen a large number if attractions that will be seen hM, during Jhe fair, and In speaking W^he -matter last night he said: "There is no doubt the fair will be a success this year. In all of my trips of the country, I hav4 heard the Lewiston - Clarkston fair spoken of, and there will be a large number of people here. The attractions will be of the best. I have seen most of Nat Reiss' atraettons and they cannot be praised too highly. He has good at tractions and lois of them. The horses that will be brought here are all good stock. There will be a fine racing program. "The Northern Pacific is making ar rangements to Increase the capacity of its trains during that time, and there will be secret detectives on ev ery train to watch out for the pas sengers and guard them against plcki pockets and thieves. There are al ways a large number of these people who follow a fair, and we Intend to do our part toward keeping them in check. We will have detectives In the city during the fair." EVERYBODY 8KATE8 NOW. The Lewiston Skating Rink will be open to the entire public from now on for a period of two hours in the morn ing, and two hours and a half each in the afternoon and evening. The hours will be as follows: Morn ing from 10 to 12; afternoon from 2:30 to 5:00; evening from 8:00 to 10:30. The management haa found that tha ladies do not appreciate having a spe cial time set apart for their exclusive use of the rink, and will discontinue the practice of having days far ladies only. By special request of a number of the older skaters no children will be allowed on the floor in the evening. Harvard is not the only American college that has lost a rowing race on the famous Thames course In England. Tale. Cornell and Pennsylvania are also in the list. Cranberries and Sweet Potatoes, Russell's Grocery. SPOUSE QUITS HIM DIVORCE FOLLOWS Court This Morning Grants Separation and Divides the Property A divorce was granted this morning to Thomas M. Brock because his wife, Sarah M. Brock, haft deserted him. No reason was given for the desertion, and the only evidence was that of Brock, himself, and Mrs. Frank Pin del, showing that she had deserted her husband. The plea for the divorce asked that the property be divided equally between. them and this was ordered by the court. .. Sets Cases in Equity. Judge Steele took up the session of his cour- this morning in the work of setting equity cases. The case of the Valley Lumber & Manufacturing company against Hugh Morrison and John Drlessel | ill be held Monday, October 1. This Is a material lien case. Mr. Drlessel has died since the action was begun and by agreement of attorneys in the case, his administrator, George Drlessel, was substituted in his place. The action of (î. \ V . Thompson against Walter J. Burns and other» will be heard between the 17th and 20th of October. Senator Heybura and counsel from Portland will be here at that time and the title of valuable real estate lying near the south line of the city of Lewiston will b« adjudi cated. The case of H. C. Matheson V«. C. A. Coryell w.ill be tried October l This action was brought by Mr. Mittwn to clear his title to lots In the Thomp son addition. This Is a friendly action and will not take up much o( the time of the court. Detail Work This Morning. In the case of D. B. Wilson, admin istrator, vs. Amos Rudesill, a motion to quash summons was overruled and defendant allowed until October 10 to answer. The case of Naylor & Norlin vs. the Lewiston Southeastern Railway com pany was set for trial October 5. at 9 o'clock a. m. In the case of Theodore Miller vs. Chester P. Coburn et al. the demurrer to the complaint was sustained and 10 days allowed to tile on amended com plaint. The court overruled the demurrer to the complaint in tin- case of Harriet H.
