Bennett left the first of the week to j attend a meeting of the board of trus- J tees of the state reform school at S:. Anthony. This is an unusually important meeting of the board as it Is the last retgular meeting that will be held before the next seslon of the legislature, and Mr. Bennett stated that there was urgent need for funds for enlarging the institution If proper care was to be taken of the youths committed to the school, says the Payette Independent. There has been a large increase in the number of industrial school dur ing the year and a half since I was appointed a member of the board," said Mr. Bennett. "At that time there During the last year we have built new boys* dormitory, and made other improvements. The new dorm itory is more than full. The girls occupy the administration building, which is crowded, and more room will have to be provoded for them. I think that within the next two years there ought to be provided two more cot tages, one for the boys and one for the girls, and an addition should be built to the administration building. To make these Imporvements It will be necessary to ask the legislature to appropriate at leas? $60,000 for the fed." Mr. Bennett said the institution was in excellent condition, under the able management of Superintendent Humphreys and Mrs. Humphreys, who is the matron. There are 200 acres in the indus trial farm, and wltlf the exception of a practical farmer who is the fore man. It is eared for by the boys. The farm raised 80 tons of hay this year, more than is need for the stock. Makes Final Accounting in Estate.
