X Ray Development.
Berlin. July 17.—Pome astonishing!
developments ln X ray photography
are reported by Professor Rieder and
Dr. Joseph Rosenthal. of Munich.
These tw-o scientists have been collabo
rating in X ray work and declare that
they have succeeded in obtaining in
less than a second of time X ray pho
tographs of the human chest, the pa
tient ceasing to breathe meanwhile.
Having proceeded thus far, they sought
to fake pictures of the human heart
between Its beats, as it was found that
the beating of that organ Impaired the
exactness of the photographs. Having
first of all accurately guaged the time
elapsing between the beats, they, by
the use of the most sensitive films
procurable, and the strongest possible
X rays, obtained good photographs in
one-tenth of a second. It had not
hitherto been thought possible to take
such photographs.

Idaho Butter Law.
A. F. Hill, state food dommissioner,
has sent out a letter calling attention
to the requirements of the new law
governing the labeling of butter wrap
pers. Portions of the law are as fol
lows:
"All butter sold or offered for sale
within the state shall have the name
of the manufacturer and the place of
manufacture stamped upon the label."
Each package of butter must have the
actual number of ounces the package
t-ontains. Each square or roll of but
ter sold or exposed for sale which is
represented to contain one pound must
weigh full 16 ounces, and two pound
rolls must weigh 32 ounces. Butter
packed In tubs must be labeled "Tub
Butter." The above applies to all but
ter. whether from dairy, creamery or
ranch. The law also prohibits the use
of eoal tar dye coloring material. Mr.
Hitt will Insist that butter makers pro
vide themselves with printed wrappers
or a rubber stamp of suitable size, with
which to fulfill the requirements of
the law.
"No butter maker." says the com
missioner. "will he ashamed to brand
his butter, anil he cannot help but see
that a nice, clean-cut attractive brand
will help sell his butter, just the same
ns a nice, fancy brand helps to sell
other goods. The aim of the law is to
raise the standard for dairy products
and give the producer a chance to pro
tect his products ngainst an inferior
class of goods."
