Dear Sir :—it would seem that my actions during the present political cam paign would be sufficient to show to tlie people of Bear Lake county and the state of Idaho my position, but it has come to my notice that different parties claim I am a gold (McKinley) republi can, basins their authority, I under stand, upon a statement that appeared in the Boise Statesman. This state ment is absolutely falte and in no wise represents my position. I always have felt since full investiga tion, and still feel, that silver is the par amount issue; that its free and unlim ited coinage is necessary to the pros perity of the great mass of all the people, especially those who toil for their daily bread and, being their friend, 1 could not, and be honest, do otherwi e than endorse the cause of silver, and I shall exert every honest effort for its success and the success of tnose candidates who feel as I have expressed myself as feel ing in this great issue. Yours most truly, W. W. Clark. One Honest Man in Poltics. I hereby declare myself to the people of Bear Lake that I atn not a participant on the McKinley re publican ticket. However, 1 high ly appreciate the honor tendered me by that party and also know ing that if elected, I would do • much good in the way of honest legislation for my people, yet hav ing so often expressed my honest j convictions as to the free coinage j of silver, I could not conscientious ly accept that nomination be it ever so honorable in function and sure of election. Yours very respectfully, Albert Herman. Republican Speaking. The silver republican campaign proper for Bear Lake county was opened Mon day at St. Charles by W. E. Mr. Borah spoke only a short time, I ,t his known reputation as an orator lost none <*f its laurel*. He spoke whol for silver and the election of W . J.
