Gem of the Mountain Club met at the home of Mrs. Hoover on Saturday last, the meeting being a musical. Program opened by roll call responded to by bits of wit, followed by two lections by the Clnb Program Commit tee. HC Instrumental music by Mrs. C. E. Harris, Solo by Mrs. A. G. Hunter. Italian song, Mrs. Beckman. The club then sang several patriotic choruses after which the three English rulers, King Henry VII, King Henry VIII and Queen Elizabeth and their rule were discussed. Miss Enderle gave a splendid talk on the social value of music in the home. She gave a short history of music in the varions ages on up to the present time Made a strong plea for the cultivation of the art, even though it be in a small degree. She called attention to the fact that the mother's voice, no matter of how poor a quality has a lulling, sooth ing ami quieting effect upon the child. The same influence remains in later years. In joy we desire to express onr feeling in music. In sorrow we seek consolation in mnsic. It enlivens the wedding.
