Bagley, has rendered a decision that persons ad vertising estrays must pay one dollar per head for each animal advertised The advertising matter is up for a vaudeville, farce-comedy and burlesque company which will appear at the opera house Saturday evening, February 7th. The last few days has been nipping cold, the thermometer dropping to 10 and 15 degrees below zero. The ice gorges in the river present a very inter esting picture to new-comers. Rev. Pemberton is assisting the Meth odists of Idaho Falls in a protracted meeting. He was in town a few days last week and informed us that they were meeting with great success spirit ually at the meetings. The show at the opera house Saturday night will drive all your cares away and furnish you more amusement in an bonr and a half than yon ever had before. Jim Prinsen, a royal "knight of the grip," was in the city Monday and left for Squirrel in the afternoon to visit his brother Eddie, who is manager of the Mountain View Ranch company of which Mr. Prinsen is a partner. A letter has just been received from W. E. McDonald from Florence, Colo rado, saying that the emrine, boilers and casing for the Fremont County Oil, Gas & Coal Company, will be shipped and arrive in St. Anthony next week. Mrs. D. L. Blevins returned home from Missouri lust Saturday after an absence of a couple of weeks visiting her father and mother who were very ill They had recovered and were in fair health when Mrs. Blevins left for Idaho. Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Oberhansley, Mrs. J. Franeom and daughter Blanch, all of Payson, Utah, arrived m St. Anthony last Tuesday. Mrs. Franeom is visiting with her parents Mr. and Mrs. H. B Strong at Farnum. Mr. Oberhansley and family will locate here. The county clerk issued two marriage licenses, one on the 3rd inst. to George Thomas Bates and Louisa Foster, both of Bates, Teton Basin, and the other on the 4th inst. to Daniel Kirkham of St. Anthony and Johanna Williams of Chester. Harry Gesas, proprietor of the Hub, returned Sunday from Kemuierer, Wyo . and Blackfoot, where he went several days since on business. Mr. Gesas is putting in a general merchandise store at Blackfoot. His ad appears in this week's issue of the Blackfoot Mail. Chas. W. Thompson, manager of the Thompson Mercantile company and Lee S. Borrows, teller of the First National bank, left town this morning bound for a hunt. They did not specify what kind of game they were going to hunt, but if you are going to guess just say jack rabbits. E. Dixon Morris and David Brecken ridge, prominent and well-to-do stock men of Teton Basin, were in the county seat Monday attending a meeting ol' the board of directors of the Fremont County Oil, Gas & Coal Company. Before re turning they made a pleasant call at this office. J. C. Whittle and Tom Karren were circulating a subscription around town lust Saturday for the purpose of raising the necessary cash to purchase doors, windows, nails, etc., with which to fin ish their school house. The object of raising the money by subscription is to save the school district's funds for hir ing a teacher when the building is fin ished. The labor and logs we under stand have been donated. Mr. Littler, who is employed as car penter at the sawmill in Island Park, was down from there yesterday. He says the mill will be ready for operation in about a week, the machinery having all been set in place. This will be one of the largest and most complete saw mills in the state when in operation. Mr. Geo. Porter, manager of the com pany is one of the most competent saw mill men in the state and they will turn out the very best of building material as they have good timber to select logs from. A supposed well-to-do rancher who lives between Teton City and St. An thony came in town one evening last week and tied his team in front of a saloon and left them stand there until after « o'clock the next morning. The owner was disgracefully drunk during the intervening time. The thermo meter was below- zero all night, and the poor animals were not even blanketed. The night marshal should take teams left standing on the streets and put them in a livery stable, and the author ities should take the owner and fine him for cruelty to animals. The Catholic ladies will give a Heart social at the residence of Mrs. Will Gray on Thursday evening, Feb. 15th. As this is the first attempt at Heart so cials in St. Anthony, a jolly time is promised all who will attend. The principle enjoyment of the evening will be the slipping into each pocket a "non sense couplet" fortelling the fate of the recipient. A handsome prize will be given the one receiving the most points. The one who captures the su gar heart will be the first to marry. Come young folks and old folks and learn your fate. There shall be displayed at the front en trance of the house, tent, store building or structure where any patient afflicted with con tagious disease is confined, one suitable flag not less than ten inches square, in all cases to be displayed in a conspicuous place near the main or other entrance as the attendant or quarantine officer may direct. 2. The premises in which said patient is con fined shall he isolated as much as it is possible so to do under the circumstances. No one ill be allowed to enter or come away from wŒ the writ?e?
