WÎÏÏ-Æ bq-ui ■ ~ 'hH - SV I 1 Enroute to Teton Basin. Mr. H. H. Cole, a mining expert from Boise, arrived in St. Anthony last Fri day, on his way to the new mining fields in Teton Basin. Mr. Cole is a mining expert, having followed the business for the past thirty-five years, and has been prominent in most every mining camp in the west, including sev eral years throughout Alaska. As to the Basin becoming a camp of import ance, Mr, Cole seems to have no ques tion of doubt, and expects a great min ing excitement to take place in this vi cinity the coming summer. The gentle man conies with the best of references from the most prominent mining men in the United States, and his opinion | and judgment may be looked upon as authentic and reliable. M r. Cole left St. Anthony last Sunday for Teton Basin. Real Estate Smith T. J. Smith, one of Idaho Falls' estate agents, who lias been hen several days listing property for sale, returned to Idaho Falls Tuesday. Mr. Smith was down to the Ross-Wyatt rauch Tuesday morning, ami returning to St. Anthony one of the bronchos which he was driving in some way dis covered that a windy Idaho Falls real estate agent was in the cutter be hind him. The pitiful animal imme diately had an epilectic fit. kicking the cutter into splinters and with the assist aiu-e of his mate strung cutter, lap robes, whip, grips and real estate agent up the road for a mile. The lust Smith saw of the horses they disappeared over a hill about a mile away with their tails in the air. as much as to say "Fare thee well, Brother Real Estate Agent, Mr. Smith became conscious of what had happened sometime later and min ing himself out of the snow bank pro cedeed on footback, gathering his grips and valuable papers, for St. Anthony. He arrived seemingly all o. k. shortly' before train time but lie was puffing like a steam boat and using language that would not appear very nice in print. real for Athletic Club Organized The St. Anthony Athletic Club has been organized with about thirty mem bers, and is fitting up the rear half of the Ternes store room as a gymnasium and club room. The officers are ( i E. Bowerman. Pres. ; G. N. Swartz, Vice Pres.; J. G. Gwinn, Sec,: and J. P. Clark, Treas. A board of directors lias also been elected, consisting of 7, F. Yearian, Harry Gesas, C. C. Bowerman, B. C. Bowers and Thos. Whitten. Mr, C. W. Thompson has generously do nated the use of his tine billiard table, and other games as well as gymnasium equipments will he added without de lay. This institution is just what St. Anthony needs. The Peak is informed that the whole affair developed from Dr. Clark showing some of the hoys the little game of hand ball thus do "large oaks from little acorns grow." For further details see Charley Bowerman. St- Patrick's Day. Tuesday next is St. Patrick's Day. In the evening a grand program will be given in the opera house, consisting of songs, recitals, instrumental solos, etc. A lengthy program is already made up of St. Anthony's musical talent, which comprises no end of Irish wit. Nothing but Irish songs will be sung on this oc casion. The proceeds of the entertain ment go towards the erection of the Catholic church which is to be built hare in the near future. The price of admission is fixed at 36c to all. Mai ysvillc Another small blizzard struck here on Friday last, piling up snow in large quantities. Your valuable paper gets here on time every week and the news from the county and state is eagerly sought, ai 1er. Mr. James Gunter is workin g on his mine on Warm river and indications are very favorable for a good vein of paying ore. Mr. lligbee is also driving a tunnel on his claim one mile east of town and prospects are very encourag ing. While Teton is doing a great deal of blowing our boys are at work and prospects are very good for Marysville. The character ball last Fridav night | was a grand success. Sharp of St. Anthony, was here with his groceries from Lovering & Brown of Chicago, but our people are commencing to sec that they can get just as good fruit and other things as cheap from their local merchant» as by representatives from eastern firms There seemed to be much dissatisfaction among the people here who had orders with Air. Sharp, claiming they can get just as good goods and just as cheap in St. Anthony. Miss Alice Wood went to St. Anthony Monday to visit with lier sister Airs. G. H. Airhart. Miss Emma Johnson is staying with Mrs. Darling of the south side. Our public gatherings have taken on new life as the small pox cases have all recovered. Our school will begin n ext Monday, the school house being put in condition. It is understood that Mrs. Joe Ro sk elley will be the teacher. This is the first school we have had for nearly 12 months. Uncle Sam Taylor still remains very weak although he is gradually gaining strength. Our post office has been moved to Mr. Whittle's one-half mite west on account of sickness but will soon he removed hack to Mr. Hendricks. J. G.
