Hailey. Inasmuch as we have the prettiest town and best climate in the State, this is ridiculous. The Boise Base Ball team does hereby challenge the Hailev team to a game of ball. Ground* and date to bo mutually agreed upon. M. Johnston, Manager B. B. B. C. A IVi Iconic Change. The climate of Wood River seems t j he steadily improving—to become more and more favorable to the grow ing of crops. When this region was first settled, the memory ot man could not "run" to the date of a single rainstorm in the*e parts, and it was generally be lieved that nothing would grow with out irrigation. Two or three years later a few showers fell during the open Rcai-on, and last year there was so much rain that very little irrigation was done. This spring we have had three or four rainstorms already and quite a number of showers, ami it is probable that the prop* could now mature even without any irrigation. This is the usual experience of new regions. When any considerable stretch of new ground is turned up mosture results which not infre quently makes a radical change in the climate. "Is there no balm in Gilead, is there no physician there?" That cry may henceforth cease, for all who will can be h.-aled by obtaining the "Science of Life." See advertisement. Al Home: Hendrick, the Jeweler. Call. A Re-hearing lo be Applied For. Ther s is some talk ol applying for a new hearing in the Alta Lincoln case. Maybe a re hearing would do some gool. At any rate.it would do no greater harm than the decision has already inflicted upon us. : | Am Idahoan Dtatlagalsbes Himself. Hon. James Gunn, one of the Idaho representatives in the Trans Conti nental Congress in session in Denver, ha* already succeeded in distinguish ing himself there. The 19th inst., the committee on organization re ported in favor of the selection of ex Gov.rnor George B. Anthony of Run ess as chairman. Ca;tam Gunn alone dissented, on the ground that Gover nor Anthony was not sound on the silver question. He catried the fight into eongress, and succeeded in se curing the indorsement of his view, the Hun. E. P Ferry, of Utah, being finally elected to the place for which Governor Anthony had been named. This victory for Captain Gunn is likewise one for the friends of silver, as it indicates that the congress is controlled by the advooates of free coinage. The Boise Challenge Declined. Some of the members of the Hailey Base Ball club say that it is impi-ssi ble to take up the challenge of t e B< ise club, because the players here cannot leave their business long enough to go to Boise and return.
