To THE SECRKTBBY OF THE INTERIOR: I am running a saw-mill here in Halley—in fact I have a planing mil) and sbli gle mill, as well. I do s consldtreble custom work, but have to keep a stock of logs on band to fill demands. Have been here in buslnesa some 10 years and would like to continue, if I can possibly comply with the new law It would be disastrous to a mill man in my position to have t« quit, aa about all I have is iu machinery, wagons, aud teams. Have been strug. gling in.a new country for so long against a com bination of circumstances with which all new countries have to ccn'end. The Wood River country never was what ie considered a rich tim ber country. Have had to make three or four miles of road for, say, 150 or 200 thousand of logs, which leaves no margin aftrr competing with railroad-shipped lumber from more favored local ities. It you could arrange for a rate per thou sand feet it would be more satisfactory. All tbiugs consider* d, would like as good a showing as parties just entering into the business, and who never turned over a shovel in a Wood River canyon. What logs I want is in Greenhorn gulch or creek, of fir aud piue. Yours respectfully. C. BOARD. P- 8.—I will have the above printed iu the Wood River Times, <j. B. NOTICE.
