COURT PINES FOR CONTEMPT
CHICAGO, NOV. 18. Equal suffrage
for women means that they must not
wear their hats when ia his court
'room. Justice of the Peace F. P. Ar
ing declared today when he fined two
women $5 teach for contempt of court
when they refused to remove their
hats. The women paid.
When the Justice calited the court
to order he said:
.''HverjlMIdy will please remove
their hats."
Mr», Oscar McCann and Mrs. Fred
erick-Rittter failed to do so. The court
hesitated a moment, but the two con
tinued to wear their hats.
"Five dollars and costs for con
tempt of court," said the justice. "If
women can have equal suffrage with
men, they can also remove their hats
in my court room."

city and the inhabitants thereof; and.
WHEREAS, all of the waters of
said creek were appropriated for ag
ricultural purposes, and the right to
the use thereof was adjudicated by
decree of the district court 0 » the fifth
judicial district of the stare cf Idaho,
in and for th e county of Lemhi, in
the year 1893. snd the city of Sal
mon afterwards obtained by purchase,
and will acquire by purchase a right
to the use of forty (40) miners

awarded by said decree as a second
or junior right for use for bénéficiai
