Murtai'GH, Idaho, March 31, '08 Mr. and Mrs. Anderson, who have been living in the section house for the past winter, have moved to their ranch near Heyburu. Misses Sylvia Hunt and Elvia Tol man went to Milner last Monday on the excursion. Miss Cloota Jones finished teach ing a term of school at Milner, last Friday, and her friends are glad to have her return to Murtaugh again. Mr. and Mrs. Frank J. Terrill were visitors to Twin Falls last Friday look ing after business interests. Mrs. Harry Morrissey and little son, j and Miss Frances Bacon came down ! from Pocatello last Tuesday to spend ! an indefinite t'me with their mother, Mrs. Anna Bacon. Edgar Steinour transacted business in Twin Falls last Wednesday. Chas. Workman, who severely cut his foot with an ax about six weeks ago, is slowiy improving. M. F.. Eden made a business trip to Twin Falls on Monday. Mrs. Wm. Emanuel and daughter Miss Bernice were shopping in Twin Falls Saturday. The following delegates were elected to attend the Sunday School Conven tion which will convene at Buhl April 3rd, 4th. and 5th: Misses Elsie Jacks and Lila Emanuel, Mr. and Mrs. J. Steinour. A meeting will be held next Saturday for the purpose of electing new mem bers to the school board. James Emmett, the past week, sold his ranch of HiO acres, to Andy Hansen of Kendrick, Idaho, for 810,500, and left on Thursday for his former home at Kendricks. Mr. Emmett has many friends here who regret his departure. Mr Hansen's family will arrive this week, and he will at once erect a sub stantial residence. Miss Frances Bacon was the guest of Mins Willa Eden at Twin Falls last Saturday and Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Steinour were in Twin Falls Friday and Saturday of last week. Mrs. John Silvers went, to Twin Falls Saturday to visit Mr. Silvers who is 111 at the hospital. Messrs, Beers and Toiman transacted business at the county seat Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Drury are down from Marion and will spend some time with Mrs. Drury's sister, Mrs. Beers. Miss Gertrude Johnson continues ill with typhoid fever. Mrs. Bacon was the guest of Mrs. ! Eden Monday and Tuesday, of last week. Mr. Silvers of Kansai is here visiting his brother and lookin ; ov;r the laud on the tract. E. Filer Idaho, April 1st, '08 Mrs. Karl Murphy spent last week in Twin Falls with her mother, Mrs, H. B. Lorain. H. Carnahan was in Buhl this week on business. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Schildmnn went to Buhl Sunday to witness the ball game between Buhl and Filer. Charles Volt of Salt Lake was In Filer this week on business. The Smith brothers of Sugar City Idaho, have arrived here and will help to swell the population as they are three great hustlers. E. H. Brennan made a business trip to Twin Falls this week. T. B. Thornton has been on the sick list for the past woek. J. Buhller of Salt Like was in Filer Monday. Mr. Texas and son have moved In the building adjoining the poatoffice. Four carloads o lumber looked pret ty good coming into Filer this woek. Chas. Kasparek did not let any grass grow under his feet when he arrived in Filer last week but proceeded at once to erect a temporary abode for his wife and daughter, until he could find a desirable location. Mrs. Stupler of Pullman, Washington is visiting her daughter, Mrs, Mather son. Mrs. Tice was In Twin Falls this week. Mrs. J. W. Reynolds and daughter of Dewey Okla., arrived here this week and will await the coming of her son, who will arrive in a few days with an emigrant car. Mrs.M. Lockland was in Filer for the first time this winter, as she has just recovered from a tedious illness. Thomas Corp has removed his barber shop to the building adjoining the post office. Mrs. Thomas Smith and children re turned from an extended visit to her old home in Missouri. R. Morgenson and Mr. McKinster of McPherson, Kansas, came to Filer this ween aad will locate near. Some are within a mile. The company's contract with the state provides that water shall be furnished for this land for $15.50 per acre if bought within one year, payable in six annual installments of $3.10 and $2.48 each with 6 per cent, interest upon deferred payments. If the purchaser signs a water contract with the Twin Falls Land & Water company within 30 days from date of purchase the first payment will not become due until one year from date of contract. The Terms on all land selling for $25 per acre or less will be one-tenth of the purchase price and first years interest on deferments, cash on day of sale, balance in 18 annual install ments at 6 per cent, interest. The Terms on all land selling for more than $25 per acre will be two-tenths of purchase price and first year's interest on deferred payments, cash on day of sale, balance in 16 annual installments with interest at 6 per cent. Newberry left last week for Couer d' Alene to take the medical ex amination for the state of Idaho. C. C. Stevens has completed a fine new residence on his ranch also a new barn. The Filer Jr., ball team played Peavey lust Sunday {with a score of eleven to two in favor of Filer. G. Erdman was hustling a subscrip tion list for a bridge for the highland canal. Gus stated that he was well satisfied. J. E.Knapp left for Spokane after recently selling his ranch. Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Barnum. of Mich, arrived here this week to reside on Mr. Allens ranch for the coming year. • O. Dale purchased a three acre tract north of town and this week moved his building this week on same. Mr. Lammers is building a two story house 24x32 for Mr. Gulick three miles north of town O F. Packwood's family arrived in Washington this week. The Commercial Club will hold a business meeting on next Monday. It is a very easy matter to pick up a Filer sheet and read what Filer needs. Let some of our merchants get out and hustle some of the wants and uecessiteis Filer is a good town and has some fine people as well as tine opportunities but it looks very bad to the vast crowds that, come in here, not, to be able to get a loaf of bread, and find this place without a meat market, t wo of the most essential requirementes. Each and every day one or more emigrant cars arrive here, families with from one to twelve chil dren, and they all eat. They don't want to spend their money any place but Flier but will if necessary. So wake up, get a meat market, get some bread, get a hustle. This is not a "knock" but a boost. Geo. L.
