Tom Thumb's Coachman. Gen. Turntr Wood, the colored mid get who drove Tom Thumb’s carriage wben he visited Queen Victoria at Buckingham Palace, diad in Nsw York city last wesk. He was adver tised as the oldest aad smallest colored midget belere the public, and was on exhibition at the Globe Museum on the Bawery. Hla right name was Charles J. Fleceher, and he was 60 years old. He was 40 inches high, his legs and arms each measuring oue foot. He wore a No. 7% silk hat. For more than thirty years he traveled with various companies and was exhibited as a curieaity in many parts of the world. There wus a standing joke be tween him and the fat woman over the price they bad been offered lor their bodies after they ware dead. A physi cian offered the fat woman $800, but would give only $500 for the midget. The “General” mat his death acci dentally, being suffocated by escaping gas while he slept. A Cood Regulator.
