The Appeal says a tin mine has
been discovered near Carson City.
The tin is probably in the Bhape of

For the year ending December 31
1903 the amount of money order
business of the Tonopah postoffice
amounted to $160,000 and receipts
from the sale of stamps etc, $8,433

The turntable for the round house
at iiarriman is the largest turntable
in the United States. It is eight
feet in diameter and will turn any
engine on the Southern Pacific or
any other system.
The United States is to bring suit
against the bondmen of John Jones
to reeover the amount stolen by him
from the Carson mint and for which
he served a term in the State Prison.

A bill thnt has been pending in
Congress for many years was passed
this week by the Senate. By it
Nevada citizens who furnished sup
plies to volunteers under Captain
Stewart in 1860 are reimbursed.
The amount appropriated by the
bill is $50,000. The bill is intend
ed to partially repay these settlers of
the early days who gave their pro
visions and supplies that the volun
teers might go and assist the quel
ling of the uprising.

The analysis of water throughout
the State has far some time back
engaged the attention of the Depart
ment of Chemistry. As a conse.
quence, the analysis of soil samples,
which was first delay by fire and
than by lack of prorer facilities for
their analysis, bas been compelled
to suffer neglect, because of the al
most exclusive attention of the
Department to the current work that
was sent into the laboratory. It is
desired now to complete the analy
sis of the soil samples at the very
earliest opportunity and, therefore,
we take this method of giving
notice to the friends in the State
that for a few months they will con
fer a favor by not sending any sample
for analysis, unless it be in the case
of an epidemic of disease in some
portions of the State,
