Osborne, M. Laffan, A. A. -Carman, J. Clark, A. W. Scott and Chas. Thompson for the purpose D. F. A. A. of selecting a Committee to solicit subscriptions for the relief of the suf T i of the San Francisco ,r. The meeting was well j.tended and on motion Mr M. "F. Laffan was made Chairman and Mr. Eugene Goodrich Secre tary. ""The names of those who called the meeting were unani mously chosen as a Committee to solicit subscripions, a list was made up and those present re. sponded most liberally; Mr. M. F. Laffan on behalf of John Weir President of the Nevada Utah Mines ane Smelters Corporation heading the ilist with $500.00, Mr. Scott $50, and every one present in sums ranging from $2 to $50.00; close to $800.00 was subscribed at the meeting' and the Committee was to report the result of its labors on Wednesday evening, at which time they re ported having collected the muni ficient sum of $1083.50. This amount was immediately sent to the head office of the subscription department for the relief of San Francisco sufferrs, Los Angeles Exminar office, Los Angeles, Cal' and will bs distributed by the Relief Committees appointed in San Francisc 3 for that pirpo33 in the purchase of supplies, etc. At best we are but one family and the spirit shown by our citizens is a most laudableone as it will do its shnra in the help of the distressed.
