He and another teacher, three youn? ladies and a boy became lost in the mountains Saturday when a fierce storm set in and we without shel ter all night. When a searching party, which was ;sent out to seek Thomas and his companions, found them in the morning Thomas was a raving man iac, with his clothing torn almost to shreds, his teeth locked and his eyes fixed in a glassy stare. He fought his rescuers, who were compelled to summon aid. By the time relief came Thomas waa dead. One of his companions. Miss Bet- tha Hansel, was found unconscious ami is in a critical condition. Pnea- n.ruia is feared. Miss Tessle Crane and Miss Steinhart, who were also in the party, suffered less and feet few ill offects from their terrifying ex perience. Mr. Thomas was quite well konwa in Winnemucca, having been here several times with the Elko hUh school basketball team, of which he was coach. Unusual conditions in Idaho make it impossible to estimate accurately the lead output of the state, but ship ments are being made at the rate of about 360,000,000 pounds of lead a year, says the United States geologi cal survey.
