OAKLAND, « AL., April 24.—An
other earthq ako shock occurred at
10:1ft last night and increased the
anxiety of San Francisco's stricken
people. It last 'd Ixtt a few seconds
and no damage is reported. The
shock, though, caused many people
to remain awake throughout the
night Tor fear of further disturban
ces.
The shock o/ last night shows plain
ly thut 'Frisco is it nervous wreck.
The first day. when the big quakes
occurred, the people waited for th
final shock that would sink the city;
then for four days they had it chance
to forget the shocks as the ravages
or fire gave them something else to
think of. Now the slightest quiver
causes t’:r:r. to cover their races.
It is estimat'd that Sftft bodies
have bon buried thus far and others
are being constantly discovered by
the men who are clearing away the
debris.
Rain last night and the new shock
hits decided many of the refugees to
leave the city and the exodus start
ed again early this morning with re
newed force. Transportation is not
hard to get. it is harder to get left
over bread tl .-.u to get a railroad puss
out of the storm cottier. The South
ern Pacific only asks these questions:
"Where do' you want to go? How
many in your party?"
