AMENDMENTS TO THE CHARTED OR BLUEFIELD Kditor of The Dally Leader: — J notice In your paper of yester <lay a reference to the hill now before the West Virginia Legisla ture, making changes hi the charter of the City of Minefield | also not** that you say certain staunch re’ino IlcatiH aro In favor of the hl'l and you imply that Us purpose Is flnar. cial recoupment and that yon favo. its passage. You do not publish this proposed amendment to our City Charter and you give absolutely no information whatever as to Its provisions. Have you ever read this hill? I>«» you know, and If so, will you kindly tell the citizens of Minefield what Is the purpose in providing by till amendement for the election of two Councllmen at large? Isn't the pur pose of this not financial recoup ment, hut political recoupment? Isn't it a broken dose of the sam« medicine the Huntington “gang” are trying to force the people of that, city to swallow? Was tills bill not Fathered by the Minefield ‘‘gang” for the purpose of trying to keep control of the Coun cil even though a majority of the wards should turn them out? Do von think this same set of political gentlemen who brought thirty-five Ot’T OF TOWN NKOHOR8 to Blue field in one gang last Spring and ifter voting them at one precinct, trltul to vote them at another, had nothing to do with getting up this hill? IT the people of Rlueflold are to have more officers to pay they should at least bo Informed of the fact. A great many good people may he de ceived as to the purpose of this amendemont. If there are any good reasons for It lot the people have them. The bill nmy have some good features, as It covers a great many different things, but I think he people generally would like to have the good features pointed out and the reasons why they are good stated. CITIZEN. Probably it would be well to watch iho proceedings of the “gang” as “Citizen” suggests. They generally have something tip their sleeves when it comes to legislation of any kind. _THE_ ARLINGTON SHOWS MATINEE Thursday, January 31st, At 4:30 O’clock. ADMISSION 10 CENTS.
