■ Denver, Col., June 26.—Denver’s
B'ammoth auditorium, in which the
jj^truocratlc national 'convention will
held, Is now almost ready and
■ its doors will be formally thrown
|ppen tomorrow. Over a half mil
Bfcn dollars have been expended in

ver now has one of the best build
ings in the land for entertaining
vast assemblages. Over 12,500
people can be comfortably seated
within its walTs, giving It a larger
seating capacity than the Coliseum
in Chicago, where the Republican
convention was held, or Madison
Square Garden in New York. A
perfect heating and ventilating sys
tem and numerous exits, allowing
the building to be emptied within
three minutes, render It one of the
most perfectly adapted halls of its
kind in the world.
Arrangements for the Democrat
ic convention are nffw nearing com
pletion. A platform and rostrum
occupies the west side of the au
ditorium, with the Beads ,flur the
delegates and alternates extending
along the floor of the stage proper.
Upon the platform will he 445
seats, which will be reserved for
the members of the national com
mittee and for the guests of honor.
The number of seats on the rostrum
will bp 101.
Seats for the delegates in front
of the rostrum are arranged nearly
In the centre of the building. The
number of seats is 1,005 and im
; mediately behind this section are
the seats of the alternates, also
) 1,005 in number.

/street. On this side will be 1.073
1 seats for the general public. The
\ same plan prevails at the opposite
• end of the building, where 826
seats will be reserves! for the gen
eral (public. Back of these sections
and also along the Fifteenth street
side of the building are boxes with
a total capacity of 64 4 seats. In
addition there will be seating spara
for 700 people more at the Curtis
and Champa street ends of the
structure.
The front row*, in the balcony
and gallery will be reserved for
the families of the delegates, al
ienates and convention officers.
^The actual seating capacity of the
balcony will be 3,623 and of the
gallery 1,889.
The auditorium is constructed
without pillars or posts to obstruct
the view, and the acoustic proper
ties are so perfect that a speaker
can be heard from any part of the
building. The auditorium Is fire
proof, no wooden material of any
sort being used In Its construction
even the sashes In the windows and
the lath being of Iron.
A band of music will be station
ed In each balcony. A signal wire
will be run from each band stand
to the desk of the sergeant-at-arms,
so that the musical program can
be governed a* will.
Absolutely no liquor will be al
lowed on the convention hall prem
ises during the cdnventlon, and
those whose enthusiasm requires
* to be fired by Intoxicants will have
to go beyond the "dry" zone to se
cure even a glass of beer.

Chicago, June 20.—Four touring
automobiles, loaded with Illinois
delegates to tho Denver Democratic
convention, with n baggage car to
bring up the rear, will constitute
the queer caravan which will leave
Chicago tomorrow for the "mllo
high" city. Roger C. Sullivan, na
tional Democratic committeeman
from Illinois, is the originator and
promoter of the scheme.
The trip will be made by easy
stages, as on account of the numer
ous receptions which will be. plan
ned at the different towns through
which the train will pass tl| going
will average about 125 to 150 miles
a day.
One of the most Important stops
will be made at Lincoln, Neb., the
home of W. J. Bryan, the heir ap
parent to the Democratic nomina
tion, who win hold a reception for
tho visiting delegates. After leav
ing Chicago the train will pass
through Dixon, Sterling and Morri
son, III., crossing the Mississippi
river at Clinton, Iowa, and subse
quently passing through Cedar
Rapids, Des Moines and Council
miu its, lowa, thence to Omaha.
Neb., and, after a brief stay In
Lincoln, will proceed to Denver
over a route to be selected later.
Tlcketa for the trip were Issued
on the name plan as those used in
railroad traveling, and the fare Is
identical with that charged by the
standard railways to the delegates
who prefer traveling by call. These
tickets will be countersigned by
the mayors of the various towns
through which the delegates pass.
This is the first time In the his
tory of American transportation
that automobiles have been utilised
for lonR distance passenger ser
vice In competition with trunk
line railroads, and Committeeman
Hulllvan's selection of this novel
method of travel for his delegates
Is a precedent. The touring cars
'which will compose the train each
I will seat seven passengers, and are
I built on the same tyi»e of chassis
I as that of the war message car,
which recently made an arduous
trip with army despatches from
New York to Fort Ijcavenworth.
