The plan of profit sharing with employes adopted by the stockholders of the Toledo, Ann Arbor an 1 Northern Hailroa l, was de vised by Governor Ashley, president of that oomnany, and in believed to be the first step toward co-operation ever taken by an Amer ican railroad. All official* and employ es, except the President, are to become beneficiaries of the p'au after they ! have been in the employ of the j road five years. In any year in which a dividend is diolaroJ, each beneficiary Is to receive, in addition to his salary, a dividend on the amount of that salary, the Binm as if he were the owner of that much stork. If any employe or officer is disabled while on duty so as to bo unable to resume his place for *‘x months or more, ho is to receive a certificate of paid up stock equal in amount to the total sutu of his wages for the year preceding his disability. In case of a loss of life in active duty his wife or legal reprt* seutatives is to receive a similar cert ill.-ate equivalent to five turns hi* last year’s wa^es. Every i ffi ;er or employo who shall voluntarily retire from the company’s ser vice after 2) yoars of continuum employ ment will receive a ccrtifl;ate of paid up stock equal to the total wages of the last year of his service. This plan of allotment, it is expected, will largely increase tho net earnings of the com. imny, and promote real, economy and gen eral efficiency, an 1 that it will also 1Trove itself to lie a valuable educator, and toach the nec -ssi-y of sobriety and fi leHty. It is expectol that the entire dividend paid by the oompiny in any one year to it* officer* will be more than earne 1 by saving* from low and waste. - —■ ■— ■■ M EX I CAN A M USEM ENTS. Mr. Jackson is about 5 feet 8 inches in height, about 35 years old, of a light and sinewy build, with.black hair and piercing black eyes, and is altogether remarkably handsome. A dinner from the joint is served in a great many of the good restaurants, costing from nt>out HO cents to a dollar and a half in our money for each order, A dinner from the joint consists of, in the first place, a liberal allowance of roast meat. This is in some restaurants brought up on a little table wheeled alongside of yours and sliced off in your presence. With this is given boiled po tatoes and some other coarse vegetables, s runtimes green and sometimes Brussels sprouts. The general range of vegeta bles appears to bo confined to Brussels sprouts (which are the buda which grow on the stump of a cabbage after the head has been removed), cauliflower snd kale. The desert served with the joint dinner i« a lettuce salad sod all you care to slice off of Stilton or Cheddar cheese. These dinners are very coarse and hearty, and are just the thing for a man taking a great amount of exercise. But there is nothing delicate about them.
