and Physical Culture
Walther's Peptonized Port is a great auxiliary to any system of
physical culture. The man who does not take physical culture or
systematic exercise needs it even more, because Walther's
Peptonized Port largely takes the place of exercise in inducing
a healthy, vigorous condition of the system, keeping the
digestion in good working order and regulating the stomach
and bowels. It assists the digestive organs, thereby enabling
the user to get the greatest amount of strength from his food.
It makes new, red blood, and invigorates the entire system.
Walther's Peptonized Port is sold by all druggists in two
sizes, 50 cents and $1.00.

Tliero is a story current at Kuloang,
central China, about a tigerwhich gave

tiger prowling nightly around their

it and one nijrht tied a cow np in the
back yard and a dog at the front of the
house. Then they armed themselves

A GAS EXPLOSION

The Marietta Times gives the
following details of a gas explosion
which occurred several days ago at
Ward, some miles back of Marietta:
At the well of R. L. Wible on
the Delilah Scott larm the driller
struck the pay in the salt sand and
drilled into a streak of gas at about
twenty five feet in the sand,
"The volume of eas, carrying
with it a small quantity of oil, shot
from the hole and became ignited
from the fire in the forge. The
explosion which followed was so
sudden and unexpected that those
in the derrick had little or no time
to save themselves.
"The driller and tool dresser
escaped with a few slight burns
and immediately lent their efforts
to save the others whom they
dragged from the burning derrick.
"There were a number of farmers
in the derrick at the time watching
the workmen, these were caught
and burned. They were:
"J. W. Skinner, burned about
head and hands.
"Owen Tice, clothes burned from
him and body badly burned.

of the lot. He was badly burned
about the body and it is thought
that he inhaled the flames."

Strain of ItouiiiK
A medical paper discusses the "health
of the oarsmen"' mill comes to no very
definite conclusion as to the effect of
training ami racing on the after life of
the varsity oar. Some years ago the
late Professor Morgan, in his little
work, "University Oars,'' gave tho re
sults of an investigation regarding *2.".."
who were then living out of L".?4 who
had taken part in the boat races. Anil
his returns seemed to show that oars
men were rather benefited than in
jured by the discipline and struggle.
It must be remembered that the pre
liminary sifting* of the torpids, the
eights and the trials weeds out the
weaklings at Oxford who could not
stand the strain. And every rowing
man knows that the trained man who
tumbles back in the boat after a hard
fought race is as fit as ever within a
minute.? London Chronicle.

every other part. Yet, however
