Fischer returned this morning from Cleveland, where he accompanied the 'remains of the late Frederick Wertheimer for interment. Dr. Abner C. Thomas and Con tractor A. P. Hecathorn returned this morning from Wheeling, where they attended a meeting of the Masonic order. Attorney 0. C. Carter, of Mid dlebourne, passed through the city this morning on his way to Moundsville to attend to some im portant legal business. Howard Appleby and son, Mas ter George, returned last evening from a pleasure trip to Zanesville, O. They made the round trip in Mr. Appleby's new yacht. J. W. Brown of Wheeling, is calling on friends in the city. Mr. Brown was in business here a few years ago. He is at present en gaged in the life insurance busi ness. Literary entertainment at the Auditorium tomorrow evening. This will be a home talent affair, and all who can conveniently do so should attend. Proceeds go to the Baptist church. Ross Morris, editor of Rev elations, is in jail, and his maga zine is suspended. He was mak ing it very unpleasant for some people who concluded they would make it unpleasant for him.. Remember the literary enter tainment of Mrs. Victor Hugo Dye which is to be given tomor row evening at the Auditorium for the benefit of the Baptist church. It is to be hoped the house will be packed 011 this oc casion. June 14 is Flag Day, and it is an anniversary that has not been observed in the past as it should. Perhaps the reason is due to the fact the American people are too busy toiling, making money, mar-' rying and dying, that they do not realize how good their country has been to them.
