The Huntington Advertiser, a democrtatio paper of the Jeffersouian style, in speaking of a disappointed woman whose name is given below, says: “Mis. Mary Jackson Kuffner has evidently allowed her disappoint ment and chagrin to get the bettor of her judgment or she would never have made such reckless statements in regard to the management of the Asylum lor Incurables at this place The Advertiser is ready at all times to take up the cudgel in behalf of the afflicted or oppressed, and upon learning of Mrs. Kuff tier's charges against Dr. Guthrie, investigated the matter quite thoroughly, and finds there is but very slight or no foundation for them. Those who are at all familiar with the history of the State institutions will take the statements of the discharged em ployes with many grains of allow ance. Dr. Guthrie managed the asylum at Spencer wisely and well; no tale of dishonor or whisper of inhumanity to patients was heard against him during the four years he was in charge of that institution and he can well afford to stand upon that record.
