Henry Harmon, sentenced by Judge John B. Wilkinson, of the Logan Circuit court, lo life irapria ment for the murder of James New ton, two years ago, cursed the oourt, jurors and witnesses and swore he would escape from the pen and kill every one of them. Hannon had seven times been tried for seven different murders and was once be fore sentenced to toe pen for life but escaped through a technicality. Vinson and Mr. and Mrs. Harman May, of this place. He was presented with tnauy nice presents. ** _In Remembrance. Mm. Ida Miller Jarrell, the lie loved wife ol Martin V. Jarrell, died ou the 13ib of this month. She was born in Ash county. North Carolina, ou September 10th, in the year 1863, aud was married to Mar liu \ . Jarrell, May 16ih, 1880. To their union was born eight children, seveu of whom survive her. She was taken ill in last May, whereup on her husband immediately called in medical aid aud was advised to take her to Cincinnati for treat meiit. | She was taken there, but derived but little benefit. Dr. York, ol Kenova, was then consulted, aud he suggested that she be removed to Dr. Gray’s hospital in Ironton, w here every thing was done to re lieve her suffering, but all to uo avail. Shortly after her return from Ironton her mind became de ranged, and after due consideration, it was thought best to have her ex amined and sent to the Lexington Asylum for treatment. She was taken there the 19th day of August; 'till mere was no change tor m« >etler, and she died suddenly m September I 'Uh.
