Last Thursday two strangers, supposed to be mint rs from up the line of tbe N. <fc W. K’y, went to sleep in the shade of a tree in the western part ol the town and one awoke sooner than his traveling companion and skipped out. The one “left behind” claimed that the one who “went before*’ had robbed him of $23 00 and a quart of whis ky. The woman pitcher twirled the ball throughout the entire game, having lots of speed and good curves. Jack Mahoney occupied the box for the local t* nn and did good work. Jack was not quite himself, owing to the fact that he had a sore arm, it having been injured in a previous game. Taking everything into con sideration it was a good game (ihe score being 4 to 2 in favor of K« no va) and should the girls again re turn no doubt a larger crowd would turn out. Laurence McClure, of Wayne, was present and manipu-1 tated tbe indioator. Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Meinhart, of Ashland, spent Sunday here with relatives. Mrs. Morris will visit Glade Springs and several other {daces while in Virginia. Marguerite, the little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. P. P. Chapman, and “Bun” Robbins, went to Middle town, Ohio, (near Cincinnati) last Sunday where they will spend a month with relatives. Mr. Chapman accompanied them as far as Cin cinnati. Susie Lakins died June 16, 1907, aged 4 years. R months and 15 days. The deceased was the daughter •d Mr. and Mrs. C. I,akin* and was a bright little girl. While her father, mother, brother, sisters and other relatives mourn for the darl ing little one, s hum the death angel ha* *een fit to lake from them, yet behind the tears should be hearts full of joy, for after awhile they 'can meet little Susie beyond this , vale of tears. A Friend. 5. J. Hensley Dead. Our citizens were shocked last j Monday morning on learning that S. J. Hensley, commonly known as “Blink” Hensley, had been called ' by the Ruler of the Universe to that country frou whose bourne no traveler returns. He died at the! home of his son, tieorge W.j Hensley, at Kussell,* Ky., w here he went to visit last Wednesday. The deceased was attacked with cramps j oa Sunday evening and a physician, was summoned and relief rendered, when the palieut fell asleep. No alarm was felt as it was thought that nothing very serious was the matter aud the family retired. On going to the room occupied by Mr. Hensley Monday morning he was found cold in death. He was 75 years of /»ge and had been a strong, healthy man all his life. While he may have had his faults, as we all have, he was a kind-hearted man, being honest and industrious. If one in need applied to him for aid the needy one was never turned aw ay empty handed, lie leaves the j following children to mourn tits death: Walter Hensley, of Ceredo; j Mrs. A. t-i.
