Mr. William Kedwine, and Miss Cora Stewart were united in mar riage on June 30tb, but the fact was kept a secret until a day or sc Mince, when it leaked out. The city council met Tuesday night and rescinded the amendment to the ordinance passed last week relative to live stock running at large in this city. This resoindment causes the original ordinance to re. main in effeot. A member of coun cil informs us that the ordinance provides that uo live stock shall be allowed to run at large within the city limits. Bars. *r The member* of the county court were considerably agitated y ester day over what to do with the omm of email pox that developed at the county jail. Frank Wilkias who has been in the prison for several months broke out with the melady, so the doctors claim, aad there was a great deal of exoitenafnt among the inhabitants of that oounty building. The sfftioted man was removed to a place of safe ty, the jail throughout was thor oughly disinfected and now that e'very one about tha institution was vaccinated yesterday afternoon no alarm is felt with refrenoe to the spread of the disease.—>Uuntington Dispatch, July 10. Population of Prison Decreaslno. Several interesting facts are given in the prison report for June, which has just been filed at the state house at Charleston by Warden Haddox. Two state prisoners, both color ed, died daring the month of June. Twenty-five prisoners were re ceived from the United States dis trict courts, and 25 were discharged by the expiration of sentence, three being from Kanawha oounty. Seven prisoners were paroled, and eleven United Slates prisoners were discharged. There was a decrease of 20 in the pnscn population, which numbered 1,214 on the 30tb of June. The general health of the inmates is re ported good. Kitten* and Rat* Still Livinu. < It has been supposed by quite a i number of people, since the infor. i mation was given out that J. F. ( Johnson had on exhibition in his saloon three kittens and two rats, which are being raised together, that it was a fake, but such is not the case. Quite a number did not l>elieve the story but it is true. The kittens and rats are now on exhibi tion in the saloon and hundreds have called to see them, coming from long distances and all have remarked that it is the most wonderful exhibition they have ever seen.
