Monday's bank clearings amounted
to SS0.'{,2o9.67. according to the daily
report of the Wheeling Clearing
House. This sum is an increase of
$304,713.63. or 61.1 per cent over Che
clearings for the same day a year ago.
Saturday's report showed the first
loss of the present month. Saturday's
clearings were $39t>.HSl.39, or 22.4 per
cent under the clearings for Novem
ber 4. 1915.
November's clearings to date
amount to $3,1S2.2(>2.0&. averaging
more than $638,000 for each of the
five banking days included. This

trade is recovering from its hysteria
and nutted down materially last week.
A material change came over the grain
trade later in the week, with a break
of over 11 con is in December and T :i
cents in May. The market lias reached
a stage whero all but a few of the
original bulls who bought wheat last
summer ha \"o taken their protits ami
where tite need of increased outside and
foreign buying is necessary to keep on
tin- ui> grside.
Cash corn prices wore on the down
grade most of last week, especially at
the close. There are declining cash pre
miums in all markets, owing to in
creased offerings of new corn, which now
comprise a largo percentage of the daily
receipts iti all markets. The movement
of new corn Is unusually heavy for so
! early in the season, and quality above
' the average. Stocks are light and cash
j business is restricted by limited offer
| ings.
j ?>ats are comparatively cheaper than
other grains, but liquidation is on. and
I lower Prices are likely until there is a
j decrease in the visible supply, which is
now unusually large. Canadian oats
tare higher than American, and I'nited
I States is the only country having a
