A telegram was received from Governor James M. Cox of Ohio, yesterday, stating that he would be unable to be 'present on account of military matters engaging his official attention at present in the Buckeye stale. M. C. A. gymnasium. It Js the second annual affair and by far surpasses the first attempt of a year ago. It will he re peated again this evening. The opening performance was given before a crowded house which thrilled when the gymnasts performed with out a falter many of the difficult feats akin to the work of the physical de partment of the Y. M. C. A., as ex ecuted anil imparted by Prof. Charles j J. Miller. The vast audience was i filled w|:h pride as sixteen members i of tin* Llnsly Institute Cadets drilled to perfection by Sergeant August Fredericks of the United Slates .Ma rines. gave an exhibition drill with the ability that marks the true sol dier. Enthusiasm pent up was let loose in the grand finale, when the song "Star Spangled Banner," was started j and Old Glory gaily fluttered downj from 011 high in the gymnasium raft- 1 ers. Everyone joined in. Hats were I thrown in the air and the true spirit of Americanism was demonst rated as J never before in the association build- j ing. The program was opened with a i grand march of the participating : classes. "The Dance of the Hotten tots," by the Junior class leaders fol lowed. During the evening's enter tainment, Fisher, Bishop and Schmich ; ael. gymnasts of unequalled ability, performed on theijparaJlel and horizon tal bars and in c!?b swinging.
