Captain White a jmphasized the points which have K >een told the voters over there on tt several occasions and many Demo- ni :rats declare they will vote for the hi ax reform candidates. si The joint discussion at Kinjpmont hi vas one of the most interesting yet M leld. Again the attempt was unsuccessful. & For the past few days the nineteen prisoners have beeit seemingly happy and have been continuously singing. They are well organized but Sheriff loliiff and Deputy Davis are up to their tricks. Whenever there is so much singing in the jail there is also some devilment going on. So on Sunday evening the officers knew that the singing was not so much for an outpouring of the spirit as for an outpouring of their physical bodies. The officers watched and listened but could find out nothing. Yester, day the music continued and the watch was also carefully kept. Some suspicious characters were seen lurking around and last night they let it out. A man passing saw two men near Lite jail and heard them say that the saws must be inside so that they could get out through the roof. Sheriff Jolliff was informed and again lisAtned to hear something. This time was not in vain for the boys were talking about going through the roof. The jail was immediately inspected and the steel ceiling was found to be torn loose for a distance of about three feet. All was ready for the prisoners to pull it down and then, when all was quiet, they would have received the saws and cut through the roof. The prisoners were again put into the cells and will lie kept there un- 1 :il after the November term of court, 5 .vhen several will receive their sen- ' ences.
