It is to be regretted that no sttraction chas been ottered to in duce visitors to come to Browns ville on this date. Oi course the natural resources of the country are a great inducement to visitors, but The Herald is a firm believer in strong and continued supple- - mental work, and will always think the 4th. should have been appro priately observed. VTSheley and wife, J-W- Tink ler and wife and John T. Line and wife and son, J. T. Eaton and J. T. Flournoy, who have been here the past few dayr looking over the country, left for home this morn ing. The entire party is much pleased with this section and some of them expressed their intention of coming back later and spending a month, in order to have ample time to thoroughly investigate the resources which abound here. In conversation before the train left some of the gentlemen said they were of the opinion this was the coming section, and only need ed development, which was as sure to come as the night follows the day. The Herald has used this for a text at innumerable times, and the subject is a fruitful one which time is proving and will con tinue to prove. The man who comes here, uses energetic business judgment, and brings to bear the practical knowledge which is essen tial to success in all undertakings, will fine successful reward. Among the passengers out this morning a Herald man noticed John Conner, who has been inter ested in the People's Ice & Mfg. company, on the way to his old home at Hattiesburg. Miss. Mr. Conner has disposed of his interest in the ice factory to Messrs. Blalack and Tucker, and will seek a new location. Tbe Conner family have been in Brownsville about one year and have made many friends dur ing their stay who will regret their decision to locate elsewhere. The family will remain here until John Conner selects another location. In conversation with Sid Conner to day The Herald man learns -that their faith in the ultimate success of the Brownsville country had not diminished, but conditions made it necessary to change. The Herald is sorry the family is to leave Brownsville, but wishes them well wherever they may locate. It is. very gratifying to learn that the rice crop in this section gives promise of a most flattering yield at present. Those who have been disposed to look upon rice growing in this region whith considerable disfavor, are forced to admit that conditions at present are all that could be desired. Of course there is no. method of successfully com puting the outcome of the crop at this stage,, but fifteen barrels per acre woukUbea fair estimate." On laud where last vear the rice, was very spotted, this year contains a Splendid crop.- Some of the most advanced rice is beginning to head, and our growers are much elated over prospects. , Ask Your Doctor ' about "Fewer gallons; wears long er." If Not No! li Of course that catches a crowd, but Dad Kelly's attractions knocks 'em all. When they get to scrap ping over that cheap sugar it will be worse than all. But in our case no one will be hurt 'and all benefited. Sugar is a great luxury; everyone needs it. Say, brother, do you know sugar will draw flies and other insects and part of the human fam ily, and in the shape of candy will draw the girls also. If you give a cow a lump night and'inorning she will always be on hand with her milk. It is better than salt or corn . No Reserve Seats at Dad Kelly's scrimmage to see slaughter in prices.
