W. TRAIN G. P. A., Fort Worth, Texas -J A traveling man yesterday called the attention of a . News man to one of the new gold certificates, just issued by the United States Treasury Department. The new form of gold currency is not a "greenback" by any means, but instead is shaded a very pretty ochre. The engraving on the other side is clear cut and finely executed. The central and prom incnt caturc of the new money is a likeness of the Father of His Country," and just below this picture of Washington appear in bold relief the words "In Gold Coin," signifying, of course, that the bill is redeemable in that way. The new money is of the "series of 1905." One of the features pointed out by the possessor of the new certificate was the apparent difficulty which would be had in counterfeiting it. This was due principally to the manner in which the figure "20" and the "$" mark are intertwined and interlapped, engraving in this particular being seemingly very hard to imitate by the maker of bogus bills. Mr.Sdlea also stated that one of our park, perhaps the one between the umber Yard sod King Inn, will have "one of the largest" collections of palms in the United States -he amid that there would be sixty one different varieties of palms in this col lec tion. One of the moSt peculiar cases in the criminal annals of Virginia came to light when Robert Conway employed an at torney to get him back into the penitentiary, where he served ten years for the murder of his wife. Conway says he does not want to commit another crime to break into prison, but he wants to return to the cell where he spent so many days. With the small hoard that he accumulated by working in the prison he has employed counsel to have him placed where he d. sires to be, aud where he thinks he properly belongs. He says he is unable to find employment since he served as a convict. Valuable Pointers. A man will be what he wills to be. Idle men tempt the devil to tempt them.
