"Tprdo," the little burro be longing to the Mason Transfer Co. which is usually known as the "immigration burro," because he has the habit of loitering in the neighborhood of the immigration offices, performed an unusual stunt yesterday afternoon- Wishing to get a drink from the river, his burroshio betook himself to the chalan landing at the ferry, and while in the act of drinking he slipped into the "silvery Rio "Grande.'' Owing to the bank be ing too steep, he wasunableto land again on this side, and, after try- ine to do so ineffectually, he turn ed around and swam across the river to the Mexican side. On reaching the opposite side, ' 'Tordo' looked back towards the Lone Star state, and apparently not wanting to leave his happy home over here, he dared the stream again. After an hour s swim, he finally suc ceeded in landing again on his na tive soil. The customs officials are not yet decided as to whether Tordo' has cheated them out of the cus tomary 10 per cent penalty, by coming into the country, in such an informal manner, and the ferry men also have a grudge against his burroship for cheating them out of a fare.
