Mistakes, how ever, will occur, even in the best regulated printing offices. Committee Dissolved. The follow ing has been handed In for publica tion: "The committee appointed at the Commercial Club meeting last Monday night to arrange for the en tertainment of Col. and Mrs. W. J. Bryan at Brownsville, met as per ap pointment yesterday afternoon at the Commercial Club, and decided that, as the entertainment of our dis tinguished visitors had been fully provided for outside of the commit tee, there was no service the com mittee could perform for the club and the reason for Its existence hav ing passed the committee was dissolved." Driving Turkeys to Market. Cuero, Texas, Nov. IS. A drove of 1600 turkeys came into Cuero yes terday from Hamon, In Gonzales county. It was a sight that attracted much attention. Local dealers bought the birds, which will be killed and dressed for shipping. A widower who was married re cently for the third time, and whose bride had been married once before herself, wrote across the bottom of the wedding invitations: "Be sure and come; this is no amateur perfor nance." H. E. Bennett of Mercedes spent Sunday with friends in Donna. Mr. Keepharte and Mr. Freeman of Mercedes were visitors recently. Mr. Philip Collins of Beaumont is spending a few days here on busi ness. W. H. Turner and family returned to Brownsville after spending a few days in ponna. Mr. Davis of St. Louis and Mr. Henley of Florida are among the re cent cltfzens of Donna. The machinery for the second lift for the canal of the La Donna Syndi cate Is being unloaded and installed. The steel and ties for the building of the spur to be run from Donna to the river are on hand and work is expected to begin on the construction at once. Mr. Burgess, the chief en gineer for the railroad company, and two asistants made the survey last week. Miss Annie Hodges will entertain the DoDnna Tennis Club Saturday evening. A. W. Carpenter while out riding Saturday afternoon was thrown from his horse and badly hurt, his leg be ing broken above the knee. D. Carpenter of Knobnoster, Mo., arrived Sunday on a visit to his brother, A. W. Carpenter. KINGSY1LLE NEWS NOTES. Returned From Bridal Tour Ar ranging to Handle Vegetables. Special to The Herald: Kingsville, Texas, Nov. 25. Mr. and Mrs. R. J. McMillan arrived in the city last night from Mexico City, where they went on a bridal tour. Mr. McMillan, who is assistant gen eral Attorney of the St Louis, Brownsville & Mexico Railroad, was married on the 10th of this month to Miss Susie Shelton of Waco. They will make Kingsville their home and for the present have apartments at King's Inn. Wm. Doherty, traffic manager of the St. Louis, Brownsville & Mexico Railroad, has gone to Houston on business connected with the road, and which will keep him there two or three days. Mr. Doherty is now making arrangements to handle with the greatest expediency the coming vegetable crop of the Lower Rio Grande Valley, and, in order that his work may be facilitated, is gathering estimates of the acreage planted and which will govern him in his con tracts for refrigerator and ventila or cars. E. S. Hyser. division road master of the St. Louis, Brownsville & Mex ico Railroad, left this morning for Refugio where, this evening, he will be united in mariage to a young lady of that city. The private car Paisano was placed at his disposal by the railroad and in this he will make his bridal tour to Houston, Galveston and San Antonio. It Is known among his friends here that Tom Waite, one of the pop ular Gulf Coast Line conductors, is soon to claim as his own one of the fairest daughters of a Central Texas city and already he is receiving con gratulations on his good fortune.
