I'lease express to the committee ruy thanks for the honor, and accept for yourself my appreciation of your proffered courtesy. I regret that I cannot conveniently attend that occasion. None lament more than I do the Third party movement in Missis sippi. In proportion to its growth, it will take from the Democratic party tried and true members, and produce division wbere there ought to be harmony and united action. It will break up the alignment of patriotic and earnest reformers which existed in the canvass of 1S01. With joy and prido I re member the splendid victory which they won in the glorious old county of Amite, within the Democratic lines: and will grieve if the ad- municipal election for Liberty. Liberty, June 25th, 1892, The Democratic Executive Com mittee of Amite County is. hereby called to meet in Liberty on the 2nd 'day of July, to transact im portant business all members will be promptly on hand early, as the mass-meeting occurs on same day. C. II. Frith, Chairman Dem. Ex. Com. , Strayed. From my place, near Liverpool, 6t. Helena Parish, La., one Red Sorrel blaze-faced filley, age 2J yrs, about 13 hands high. Had a bell on, fastened with elastic belt collar, when last seen. Any information leading to recovery of same will be rewarded. Henry Golmon. June 21st. '92. Liverpool, La. Mr. Will A. Parsons, of Gloster,' will attend to all criminal matters that may be intrusted to him. He is a number one lawyer and a christian gentleman, and has recent ly formed a partnership with Hon. F. A. McLaih,' in civil business. All cases intrusted to them will receive prompt attention. We be opeak for them a liberal patronage, fiee card elsewhere; right should be imperilled by a movement outside the lines of the Democratic party, under whose banner they fought. I grant that there is cause for disappointment and unrest; that pledges have been broken. But it should be borne in mind that the Democratic party has not bad con trol of the government in it entirely for thtrty .years. For broken pledges the party itself is not at fault. ItS principles are sound. The fault is not with its creed, but with faithless agents who have omitted to do what they ought to have dono. Granted tliat the Demo cratic majority of the present House of Representatives have not passed a free silver coinage bill to increase the circulating medium; nor passed a bill repealing the tariff robbery as a whole;- nor acted down ex penditures proportionate to public demands these delinquencies are well calculated to cause dissatis faction; hut it should fall upon the faithless servants, and not upon the party and its time-honored principles. By tho forms of its organization the remedy can be applied without abandoning the party itself. It is larger than the men who have fallen short of their duty. A Third party promises nothing but division nnd defeat to those halius'ic and well meaning -men who aim at needed reforms. And worse still; its effect will dissolve the solid South al the very moment when its enemies are concentrating their strength to pass the Force bill for the destruction of their liberties. I pray that wo mny have a safe deliverance from tho impending dangers. Truly, your friend, E. Bap.ksuale. Third Monday in July, 1S92. Given under my band the 10th day of June, 1S92. Special to Viuksburt: Herald. Early yesterday morning a newly born babe was found lying in the mud near tbe railroad in the edge of town. It is supposed to have been thrown there during a hard rain the night before. It wasjust be low the railroad trestle and the water must have been one and a half feet deep al the time; but it is a dry branch and the water ran off and left it exposed. It had never been dressed and must have been carried to the place immediately after birth. An examination by physicians proved that it was born alive. It is so white that a great many people and some physicians believe it to be the child of white parents. 'The coroner's jury are still in vestigating the matter; and while they have examined a large num ber of witnesses there is as yet no clue to the perpetrators of the das tardly crime. The best element of both whites and blacks are inter ested in the affair; and if the mur derers are found they will probably meet with swift and vigorous pun ishment. The action of the Democratic Convention gives general satisfac tion to the people of this place. Some of them did not favor the nomination of Cleveland; but they are ready to join the majority and work for his election; excepting members of the Third party. We have a third party in our town com posed largely of one man and abnut as many sympathizers; but there are still left in this county a suffici ent number of staunch Democrats to hold the fort for G'levland and Stevenson, Cliauccry Notice.
