J udge Carter has informed par ties hero that ho will not open court next week until Wednesday, on account of the election, as it would put somo voters to considerable in convenience and perhaps in somo case deprive fiom of the piivilegcof voting altogether. Messer Ward arrived here on Saturday last, previous to announce ment and haranged a small audience in a very vulgar Btyle for a short timo. His audience was smaller at the close than at the commencement. Ho stands about as good a chance to be elected to Congress as we do to tho presidency. Alex Meyers of Scott County was accidently shot by the falling of a loaded pistol in the hands of his brother. A man by tho name of William Wittrock, was murdered in Poplar Blnff recently in a quarrel with an j other party by the name of Scott Frizzell. Tho Cash-Book says the Gree ley and Brown ticket will bo elected in that county by 234 majority, and somo on tho ticket will run ahead of that. The Commerce Dispatch says it is somewhat unfortunate 'for John B. Henderson that he visited Southern Missouri, as ho lost many votes by his efforts. An elopement occurred in Sikes ton, Scott Co. recently ; also a mur der. This makos five murdcis iu four j-eara in a town of about twenty inhabitants. Doing pretty well. Take Notice. Monday Oct. 25th 1871 The Board of Aldermen of the City of Ste. Gen evieve Order and Request the Citi zens within the Corporation, to be vaccinated, to prevent the spread ot the small-pox, which has made its ap pcarauce in the city. Tersons who are not able to pay for vaccination can be vaccinated at the expense of the city. Dr. F. Guibourd has agreed to vac cinate all those to be vaccinated at the expense of the city, at 25 cents apiece. We hope that other physicians will act accordingly.
