Nineteen scholarships have bet-n
awurded to Notre Dame by the Na
tional Council of the Knights of Co
lumbus, according to an announce
mcnt just made at the university.
Competitions were conducted at tho
university and throughout the coun
try. The Knichts of Columbus planned
originally to send one former serv
ice man to the university and to
Rive ICO scholarships to 100 of the
most prominent colleges and uni
versities in the country. Applica
tions became so numerous, however,
that the directors of the scholar-
ship committee decided to triple the
apportionment and Notre Dame sot
11 scholarships as the result.
