OFFICIAL RETURNS. THE RESULT OF LAST TUESDAY'S ELECTION IN MARSHALL COUNTY SET FORTH. It snowed freely a part f the time Tuesday, and every tlake of snow ap parently had a ballot for the republi cans wrapped tip in its lleeey whiteness. It snowed the democrats in entirely and the republicans relieved them of all the otliees they claimed and ttrned them lot se. The Imkpi:mi:nt, alwavs in the van, tells in another part of this issue how it was done in every township and precinct in the county. All the democrats were blessed with was the election of a majority of the township trustees, electing their man in Oerman, Xorth, l'olk, West, Union and Oreen townships. Jn the latter on ly by one vote. They also got a handful of minor township ollices, but the entire state, judicial, congressional and county ticket was defeated by majorities run ning from ö:i to '.an. The hold over democratic ollice hold ers on the court house, are: The county recorder, assessor and superintendent, who will remain twj years longer. The party has a cinch on the county super intendency, however, as the present trustees will elect a democrat next .June, and after that, the majority being on the democratic side, they will be able to elect a democrat to fill the ollice tor four years more. The Small Pox Scare. Some apprehension has been felt by the people of Plymouth over the reports of additional cases of small pox in Walkerton and vicinity, and some fear was entertained that some persons in this city had been exposed to contagion. The Imh:pi:mh:nt has made a thor ough investigation of this rumor and finds that at present there is no ground for alarm. The following letter explains the case and coining from the authority of the State Hoard of Health, is worthy of consideration: Imuanapoi.is, Im., Nov. ', lS'.U. J. II. Wilson, M., 1. Plymouth, Ind.: Dear Sir: Yours of the Ith inst. is at hand, hi the case youcitcof the young man who visited "the young lady, I would say I hardly think it prohaltle that any of those present will take the disease, still you pursued the right course in forbidding them to mingle with others until after the period of in eubatioii has passed. 1 have advices from Dr. Dcwant who assures me that the utmost care is tak en and does not anticipate a further spread. It is altogether probable that the reports from there are exaggerated, as they usually are in such cases. I will again communicate with Dr. Dcwant, and if I lind it necessary, will go there again. I sentl disease circulars as you requested. I.'espect fully, X. Ml'.K ALF, Sec. To much care can not be exercised in precautionary efforts to allay the spread of small pox, and while Dr. Wil son and the members of the board of health of this city are unremitting in their efforts to protect this city from an attack of this disease, it is only justice , vice for the past fourteen years.
