Mimbers ttf the Alpha Pleasure ("Jub found the affairs of the club in excel lent condition with flattering prospects for the future. The members of this club believe that life should not be one continous round of work and dull cares and the object of this organiza tion is for pleasure, recreation and social intercourse. Although this club was organized but little over a year ago it has built at Twin Lakes, a very comfortabl club house where its mem bers resort for aquatic sports. It is now preparing to provide club rooms somewhere in the city, ami it is probable that steps in that direction will be taken soon. There are now some vacancies in the membership, which is limited to twenty-live, and three or four new members are de sired. We have noticed in several of our ex changes, when speaking of ranks being conferred on candidates in the order of Knights of Pythias, they continue the practice of designating it as degree work. In this ortler there is no degree work. It is all by ranks, first second or third rank. It is excusable for those who are not familiar with the ortler, and especially more so, when a large number of the members of the order designate it as degree woik. 1 rid. iv All ra.-, s 1 1 . for i" d '.y. and I' M'iv 0,1 arc unt of souu entries. This impression is most emphatically contradicted by the fac' that fifteen entries have been made for the four races now on the program for to-morrow and next day. Among these horses are Mab, Dot L. and many other well known favorites. That the entries were late will not de tract from the interest that now centers on these coming events. When the new bicycle factory was erected at La Porte, a large number of the employes at the Hieycle works in. this city went there to work in the Crown cycle factory. At this time a large number have become dissatisfied there and are returning to Plymouth, desiring to be reinstated in their old positions. Mr. M. W.
