the moat needs of a modem home
than any other one business insti
tution.
Primarily, the drug store is lo
cated in every city in the United
States to protect the members of
the family against sickness and dis
ease. and to end pain and long
suffering in injury. The thrifty
house wife has learned through ex
perience that the purchase of in
ferior drugs and medicines is the
costliest thrift known, that they
often result in extended illness and
costly hospital and doctor bills.
Housewives of Brownsville have
learned, however, that the two Cis

Mrs. Josephine Enevere, totally
blind, operates a busy telephone
switchboard in the offices of the
Society of the Blind in Cleveland.
She uses a Braille typewriter to take
down all messages which are later
transcribed on a regulation ma
chine.
TO CLEAN FAUCETS
To clean brass faucets dip a piece
of flannel in vinegar and rub well.
In case they are greasy, wash them
with soap suds first. For nickel fau
cets merely wash and dry carefully’.
More colored shoes are being
shown than in any recent season.
With them are worn the bright scarf,
belt and hat or hat trimming of
the same oolor.
The colorful sashes and scarfs rel

the home, it was found by govern- I
ment authorities that 20% of the
foods you buy are spoiled be I ore
they can be eaten, and that one
haif of this food spoilage is caused
by improper refrigeration in the

clothes, use boiling water and salts
of lemon. Pour this mixture over
the stain, using a bowl under It so
that a good deal of boiling water
can be poured.

cheaper cuts are for pot roasting
ai.d braising. No water should ever
be added during the cooking pro
cess. The liquor in the roasting pan
is used for basting.

COCONUT FROSTING
Three egg white*, stiffly beaten;
one cup confectioner’* sugar, one
half teaspoon vanilla, fresh grated
coconut. Add the sugar and vanilla
to the beaten egg whites. Beat with
a rotary beater until frosting will
stand in peaks. Spread on cake and
sprinkle thickly with freah grated
coconut while frosting is still soft.
This makes enough frosting to cov
er the top and sides of two nine
inch layers.
