May 13—Defl I tilte assurance has been received from “Cannonball" Baker that Daredevil Jack Stevenson will be * here for the Valley Harvest Fiesta May 39 and 30. according to officials of the Junior Chamber of Com* | merce which is sponsoring the cel , ebratlon. Stevenson starred in the Colum bia moving picture, “Anything for a Thrill” and will do a triple para chute leap here for fiesta visitors. Stevenson also stunted in “Wings," “Sky Bride." “Hell in the Heavens." and other thrill movies. Baker is staging one day of automobile races and an afternoon of automobile stunting in which cars will be driv en into each other head on and turned over and over at 70 miles an hour. Many other stunts are being arranged. Plans have been completed for the style shows to be held on each i night of the fiesta with styles mod eled for both men and women. Plans for selecting local entries ) In the Valley-wide beauty contest are being pushed in the various towns and many of them will be 1 selected this forthcoming week. The winner of this contest will re ceive many prises when she is se lected first night of the fiesta and cm the second night she will be crowned queen of the harvest. Manufacturers not only in Har lingen but the other Valley towns •re showing a big interest in the exposition to be held downtown. Merchants and manufacturers from any city in the Valley may display their merchandise at the exposi tion grounds at Madison Hotel Park. There also will be a Monte Carlo in connection where fiesta Asitors will be able to derive much Am from games of chance using ex position money.
