Stempel & Co. Last Friday about 11 o'clock Claude Harris, who works for S. C. Price south east of town, was overcome by the heat and was in a critical condition for some time. He had been at work on a straw stack and got down to assist in hauling oats to the threshing machine from the! shocks. He was pitching the oats on a wagon for A. C. St. Clair and had loaded but a few shocks when in going from one shock to another Mr. St. Clair saw him fall. He was taken to the house and a physician summoned and all efforts was made to revive him but he did not gain consciousness for about fifty-two hours, since which time he has been gradually improving, lie is about 10 years old and a son of J. On \if to ft to to The Rock Island has had bad wrecks within the past Friday night of last week a train going east ditched 17 cars, killing John Wes ton, the head brakeman, who is a brother-in-law of Charley Reeves of this place, and also injuring George Cravens, who was shipping some race horses from here, breaking his arm and otherwise bruising him up and killing one of his W horses. The other wreck occurred east: of Harvard and 14 cars went into the ditch there but no one was injured. The Rock Island.has at last realized that they have no road bed along this line and have put out an order allowing a maximum speed of only 20 miles an hour over the division and ordering the engineers to use extreme caution at all times. We sincerely hope this ends the wrecks for many weeks to come.—Line ville News.
