Even the nails were saved in tearing down the'structure and over a dozen kegs'of nails alone were shipped to Knoxville,.where most of the material is to be used in the construction of the state hospital for inebriates. There were four car loads of furniture and fixtures saved from the exposition building, which were distributed among the state institutions under the board of control. Twenty-two potted palms wpre also brought from the building and divided among the institutions at Dav enport, Fort Madison, Mt. Pleasant, Clarinda and Glenwood. A car of building material was sent to each of the following institutions: Davenport, Independence, Eldora, Mitchellville and Gleenwood to be used in the new build ings being erected there: In air it is figured that the board of control secured close to 140,000 feet of lumber from the Iowa building. The bulk of this will be used at Knoxville this summer. In planning the adminis tration building there the board ar ranged to use the windows, doors and interior finishings of the exposition building and on one contract alone a teduction of $2,000 was secured for the use of this old material. The tearing down of the Iowa build ing. began December 1 and has occupied four months. During that time not an accident has occurred despite the liaz ardous character of the work and the immense amount of material to be handled. Iowa is one of the first, if not the first state, to complete the re moval of its state building from the ex position grounds. It is also said that this state has secured more salvage from its building than any other repre sented in St. Louis. A wonderful spring tonic. The state board of control has re ceived notice from the Louisiana Pur chase Exposition that every bit of ma terial used in the construction of the Iowa building has been removed and that the grounds'had been restored to the same condition in which they were before the big exposition. All that now remains to be done is to sow grass where stood the handsome Iowa building but this the Iowa commission has been relieved from doing owing to the sea son. Even the cement walks had to be removed and the cellar refilled before the grounds were accepted as restored. We tried every thing we heard of without getting re lief. We then called in our family doc tor who prescribed Foley's Honey and Tar. With the very first dose they be gan to improve and we feel that it has saved their lives." Refuse substitutes. L. P. Van Werden. For some reason Mr. Garber, Presi dent of the Decatur county branch of the Iowa Meat Producer's Association did not arrivo Saturday and the local organization was not effected. The Corn Club met and took a lesson in scoring cord. Mr. Woolley, president of the Corn Club, tells us that the far mers over the county are taking great interest in the seed corn ques tion and the majority of them are test ing their corn as Prof. Holden instruct ed. Most of the seed has shown a healthy growth and we will probably nee the effect next fall. It is quite gratifying to know that the farmers are {iking such an interest in the corn question.—Garden Grove Express.
