Just now you are bothered with the question of what to buy for Christmas presents. Store Almost ev§ry man in town knows some of the things which "the glad new year" will bring him. The coal bill, the remnant of last summer's ice bill care fully preserved by a dilligent corpora tion, the Christmas present's "glad hand," and the payment by installments for some luxury which outclassed his salary by fifteen pounds stripped. All these he knows will come his way. If they don't, someone else has made a mistake. But the calendars and alma nacs for 1906 are arriving, and they tell of some of the most interesting things pertaining to the new year, which will prove of interest to many Leon people. Some of the things mentioned in the almanacs are as follows: According to the almanace the year 1906 comprises the latter part of the 130th and the beginning of the 131st year of American independence, and corresponds to: The year 6019 of the Julian period the year 5666-5667 of the Jewish era (the year 5667 begins at sun set of September 19) the year 2569 since the foundation of Rome, according to Yarro the year 3566 of the Japanese era, and to the 39th year of the period entitled "Meiji the year 1324 of the Mohammedan era, or the era of the Hegira, begins on the 25th day of Feb ruary, 1906. The 1st day of January, 1906, is the 2,417,212th day since, the commencement of the Julian period. 1906. The planet Venus begins as morning star and continues as such until Febru ary 14th, after which date she is even ing star until November 30th, and then morning star the rest of the year. The planet Mars will be evening star until July 15th, and then morning star the balance of the year. The planet Jupiter is evening star till June 10th, after which date he is morn ing star to December 28, and then even ing star the balance of the year. The planet Saturn begins as evening star and continues as such until Febru ary 24th, after which date it is morning tar until September 4th, and then evening star to the end of the year. ECLIPSES FOR 1906. In the year 1906 there will be five eclipses, three of the sun and two of the moon: 1.
