C. BROTHERS. Cashier F. E. BRENNAMAN, Ass't Cashier Iowa Oats Special. Professor llolden's lirst oats special proved a gratifying success. Of course it is easier now. When Professor Hol den announced that he had something of interest and of great value for the farmers of Iowa, and when he proposed to instruct them at the work of growing corn many held aloof. They looked up on the whole thing as a huge joke. A professor, a mere man of bcok to tell them something about growing corn. The idea was ridiculous and presumptu ous. They had grown corn from child hood, even as their fathers had grown corn before them, and no professor could tell them anything about corn. And yet Professor Holdeu came and did show them many tilings about corn of which they had never bad the remotest idea. In the main, however, what he told them was so simple that they un derstood it all, and so reasonable 1 hat they acted upon it, to their great pro' fit." And instead of scoffing at IJolden they began to swear by the professor. And when he announced his oats special there was no need of arguing the case or of introducing the professor. There was no predjudice to combat. They knew the professor and they were con fident that he was again going to show them how to put money in their purse, how to raise more oats and better oats than ever before. And so the first oat spccial played to big houses, and others are being planned. A Religious Author's Statement Rev. Joseph H. Fesperman, Salisbury N. C., who is the author of several books, writes: "For several years was afflicted with kidney trouble and la*t winter I was suddenly stricken with a severe pain in uiy kidneys and was confined to bed eight days unable to get up without assistance. My urine contained a thick white sediment and 1 passed same frequently day and night. I commenced taking Foley's Kidney Remedy, and the pain gradually abated and finally ceased and my urine became normal. 1 cheerfully recommend Foley's Kidney Remedy. Bell & Robinson. WYOMING LAND A E A O E N I N 7,000 Acres On May 6th the State Land Commissioner of Wyoming will open for settlement under the Government Carey Act a tract 01 7000 acres of Irrigated Land in the Famous Laramie Valley, Wyoming located on the main line of the Union Pacific Jiailroad, surrounding the townsile of COOPER LAKE. Before making entry on any of these lands the settler must make application for a water right. The State Land Board of Wyoming has fixed a price of $35.00 per acre on water rights to cover this land and the James Lake Irrigation Company has contracted to furnish the water. All applications for water rights should be made to the James Lake Irrigation Company accompanied by a first payment of 35.00 per acre for every acre of land desired. The balance of $30.00 per acre is made payable in ten annual payments at six percent. Special Excursion to this Opening Leaves Chicago May 4th and all applications should be made before that date. In the majority of Carey Act land openings there have been many more applicants than could be supplied. In this case as soon as applications have been written sufficient to take up the 7,000 acres no more applications will be received. The settler will pay to the State of Wyoming ")0 cents per acre for this land. 25 cents at the time of making entry and 25 cents at the time of making tinal proof. The settler must cultivate one-eighth of the land tiled upon, but the state requires ONLY A RESIDENCE OF THIRTY DAYS. Parties who have used their original homestead rights can still make application under the Carey Act for a tract of this land, from 40 acres up to and in cluding 1(0 acres. This land is in a fertile valley, with a chocolate loam soil, which produces under irriga tion large crops of wheat, barley, rye. oats, alfalfa, tield peas, pota'oes, sugar beets and other root crops. The climate is ideal. In fact, the Laramie Valley is in itself quite a health resort. There are excellent railroad facilities and the land is within easy reach of the markets of Denver and Omaha: near the Uni versity of Wyoming and almost at the door of Laramie. A man can enter land under this act no matter how much land he already owns Free Trip to the Land and Two Lots in the Townsite of Cooper Lake will be given to each person making application for water rights before May 1, the trip to include sleeping car. dining car and hotel accommodations.
