Most everyone in this neighbor hood were business callers at Weldon Saturday. The psist week has been one long to be re membered by both young and old in Morgan, for several reasons. First, the rough roads, then the snow, and then more snow and drifts. And last, but not least, the sound of fes tivities with which the people have celebrated the closing year. H. R. Perkins and wife served turkey dinner to a number o? their friends on Dec. 24 th. Mrs. Lucy Peck served Christmas dinner for her children and their families, and a few intimate friends. Henry Dillon brought out a load of goods for the Morgan store Wed nesday. He reports the roads much better since the snow. O. L. Peck attended the Cale Browning sale Tuesday and Mrs. Peck spent the day with Mrs. James Grogan. F. M. Low ranee and family ate Christmas dinner with Wm. Fore man and wife, north of Logan chap el. Willis Dillon and Wm. Lowrance were trading in Lineville Friday. Oscar Peck and wife gave an oys ter supper Wednesday evening and about thirty invited guests were present. A very pleasant evening was spent with music and social chat, the organ, two violins, a guitar, and singing made the evening seem all too short. The party broke up at a late hour with many thanks to the host and hostess. Miss Coral Curry, who is attending school -at Shenandoah, came home to spend the holidays. Mr. Curry and wife gave a party for her Christ mas night. Over thirty young folks were present and the evening was spent with games -r and daneing.t Oysters were served and all returned home in the wee small hours with pleasant memories of their Christ mas party. Will Lowrance delivered hogs at Lineville Saturday and brought out a load of coal. His nephew, Perry Hinds, came home with him to stay until New Year's. Mrs. Galpin returned to lier liorne at Lineville last Thursday after a visit with friends and relatives in Morgan. A number of young, and some of the older folks enjoyed a social dance at the liojne of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrance Young last Friday even ing. Those who attended lodge and en joyed a fine sleigh ride last Thurs day night were O. L. Peck and wife, H. R. Perkins, wife and daughter, Maggie. Henry Dillon went to Lineville Friday and brought out a load of coal. Harry Merrick and wife came over Friday for a day or two's visit at the home of L. B. Spencer. Macy and wife at a five o'clock dinner Saturday evening. Mrs. C. E. Morey returned today from a few days visit at Lamoni. William Horn returned Saturday from Clarinda, where he had been visiting his daughter. Prof. Charles Tye and family re turned to their home at Moravia on Tuesday. Missouri ranks I second to Iowa in the value of its 'poultry, with $11,871,000. In these ten states together the value of poultry is $86,481,000, or 55.9 per cent of the total value of poultry in continental United States. The census bureau reports 280, 000,000 chickens on the farms of the nation. They are worth to the farm er, 50 cents apiece. Also at last ac counts, there were on the farms 3,688,700 turkeys, 2,906,500 ducks, 4,432,000 geese, 1,765,000 guinea fowls, 2,731,000 pigeons, 3,445,000 colonies of bees. The poultry popu lation increased 18 per cent in ten years. The value of the poultry in the same period jumped 80 per cent. The human population in ten years rose 21 per cent.
