TM Election To-day,
We hope no trivial consideration, such
as caiim'dso many to neglect voting on last
Saturday 1 will prevent them to-day exer
cising that right. We feel that there is
more at stake on the prcsont occasion, and
that it is the duty of every Temperance vo
ter to aid in the election of men who will
enforce the Iowa Prohibitory Law. Now
that the law in passed, let 11.1 nhow to itrf ad
versaries thnt it cm be enforced. We hope
occasion will nut be given for tbe re-cnuct
!in'nt of such refnes as occurred on List
Suturdny night.
The mayoralty.
We wish to speak a good word for3 our
•Id and well esteemed fellow citizcn, E.
Ticmsxor, Esq., who presents himself to
lay to the voters of Davenport as a candi
date for the Mayoralty. During the four
years Mr. Ti chenor served our citizens in
the capacity of Justice of the Peace,he fill
i-d that office more acceptably than it had
before or Ins rn«e b.?.*n d:»t harged. I he
i,»da a good Magistrate, tliere is unreason
to doubt that, so fj.r as the are simi
!r, he will ni :k- a good M-yor. The
IVmperance principles of Mr. Tioh mur
1 annot be questioned, and.il eleettd, he will
use his influence to enforce the recently en
acted Prohibitory Law. Who his opponent
will be, we are yet unadvised, but whoever
he may be we feel assured thutin the above
•.UJlitications, at least, he will not be the
nperior of Mr. Ti
chenor.

Steamboats Burnkd.—The St. Louis

The steamer Americus was burned be
