Packers From Austin Won Hot Basket Ball Game Last Night 21 to 12. Last night at Steyer’s opera house one of the biggest crowd* ever in the building, we believe, -saw De corah’s “Big Five” basket ball team go down to defeat by the Hormel team of Austin, Minn., by a score of 21 to 12. The Hormel team is made up of big, strapping fellows, and they are fast and <)kn6w the game too. The first half was «a hard fight, the score being held d*wn to 3 to l in favor of Decorah. In the second half Hormels pulled out and began making baskets pretty freely and it was soon evident that they were going to win. “The Big Five didn’t seem able to make the bas kets, although they had plenty of opportunities. The Hormel bunch out weighed them| considerably, and it made a fighting game. “Pep" Qualley had a front tooth broken off, one of the Austin fellows elbows coming in contact with it. Nevertheless the Big Five made a game fight, and the spectators were . satisfied. “Mike’ Larson was in the game with an in jured wrist, which handicapped him, and prevented him playing his usual star game. Manager Ed Herwig of the “Big Five” is to It)e congratulated on the great games he put on here and the big crowtls that have been in at tendance. He always gives the people something good, as he did in base ball, so he has in basketball. The “Big Five” is still in the ring, and we want to see them get another try at Hormels.
