The original woolen mill organisation lias been disbanded, but only to ^ive place to a new and far inoro comprnhcnsivu mannfae luring sclieino. About tho middle of week, Messrs. Sherwood and Clark propound to the woolen mill coipo'ation to riiije stock to the mount of $01,000 and purchase of tlietn their whole wutor power ard mill property at $24,000, to be turned in as stock, which would thus amount to a total of $75, 000 the new Company to crrct both wool en and flouring mills of large capacity. At a meeting of tho woolen mill stockholders on Saturday this proposition was accepted, and tho old organization abandoned. Stock to the amount of $31,000 was taken in the new enterprise on the spot. This has al ready been raised to about $40,000, and there ran be no reasonable doubt of the en* tire success of tho project. Our capitalists are wide awahe to tho absolute necessity of n.anufactures to the continued prosperi'ir of the city, and it is not probable that this golden opportunity for the right improvement of our water power will be allowed to pass unimproved. With the whole water power at command, there can be no doubt of the profits of the enterprise. Examination or Focbtner.—The exam, ination of John Fourtner, Mr. Lillie's hired man, so mysteriously lied by the burglars who robbed tbe house, was held before Jus. tice Weart, on Tuesday last, and resulted in. his being bound over fur his appearance at the next term of the District Court. He waa unable to give the necessary bonds, which wore fixed at $1,000, and was conse quently sent to jail. It was developed during the examination that Fourtt.er was the chief conspirator in tbe affair, the other parties having been invei gled by hiiti into engaging in the scheme for the robbery of Mr. Lillie's house. Fourtner had long known that Mr. Lillie bad a large amount of ready money, and his cupidity being excited by the dazzling prize he took steps to secure it. Lacking the courage to steal the money himself, ho planned to have the money take'i by others in such a way as to avert suspicion from the real crimin als. He found a rerdy confederate in Shaf fer, and the two induced Curtiss and South* worth to unite with them. Fourtner, well aware that Mr. Lillie would attend the lec ture of Fred. Douglass, with the most of his family, arranged with the others some time previous to that event, to make it the oppor tunity for the accomplishment of their de signs. Some time after tbe departure of Mr. Lillie for tbe lecture, Shaffer, Southworth and Curtiss approached the house, and one of their number first Went to tbe door and called for Fourtner, so as to make sure that tbe way was clear. He reported favorably to his companions and they unitedly burst into tbe house, siezed Fourtner, tii bis hands to gethcr behind his head, and proceeded to turn the house topsy turvy in search of the money but without success. Mr. Lillie bad only the day before deposited his funds at the batik. Two little girls were in the house at the time, hut were so terrified as to be unable to obtain a very distinct idea of the thieves', who bad disguised themselves by blacking their faces. Upon their departure Fortner cried to the girls to loosen him from his disa greeable position. These are the leading facts in the case, and they indicate a coolly calculated plan of robbery, with FortflSt at the leading spirit. Winthrop, Jan't 22,1867.
